Home Series: Entry Makeover Part II.

I’m so excited to share the final reveal of our entry makeover today. It’s something that I’ve dreamed about for a long time and I still can’t believe that it’s finally finished. Metrie’s mouldings dramatically transformed our entryway and I can’t thank them enough for being a part of this project. When guests come through our front door now they always comment on our statement wall which makes the space feel so much larger. Taking the panel mouldings all the way to the ceiling really brings your eye upward to take in the space. We decided to only paint the statement wall white, but we’re now debating on painting everything white because we love it so much.
For the baseboards, wall and crown mouldings, we used Metrie’s “French Curves” collection for Parisian-inspired look. We went with Scene I which is MDF. We chose MDF because we live in Minnesota which is super dry in the winter and super humid in the summers so natural wood tends to shrink and expand a lot. MDF was a safer choice because we’d be less likely to see the seams of the moulding split.
We also removed the carpet and had hickory treads and white risers installed. While hickory probably wouldn’t have been my first hardwood choice, it matches the existing flooring throughout our house. Now that it’s in, I like it a lot more than I thought I would. Our house is a modern farmhouse style and the light wood flooring match the style well. I’m not sure that we’ll ever change it. I do like how light and bright everything is now.
As a reminder, here’s where we started. You can read more about the process here. xo, Maria
