How To Make Shorts Feel Dressy.

We are spending this week in NYC and when we arrived we were greeted by a major heat wave. We’re in town for business so I packed more professional attire than I’m used to wearing. Dresses and rompers are typically my go-to for professional settings in the summer, but every now and then it’s fun to mix it up and wear something a little more unexpected. Depending on the dress code of where you’re headed, shorts can be viable option for a casual get-together or brunch meeting.
I found these adorable gingham shorts recently and loved the print so much, I added myself to the wait list for a few weeks. I finally received them (and they’re now back in stock) right before we left for our trip. I wasn’t sure how I’d wear them, but then I spotted one of my favorite blazers hiding in my closet and this strapless swingy top and I knew they’d make for the perfect non-traditional summer suit. I love how the neutrals pair together for a modern take on a classic print. I’m always looking for an excuse to wear my favorite Chloe wedges and I almost always pair them with shorts to elongate my petite frame. We shot this look right outside of our hotel – The Chatwal, A Luxury Collection Hotel which is a gorgeous luxury hotel right near Times Square. The rooms are gorgeous and the service was so good. I’m going to miss this place!
