I believe in investing in classic pieces and rotating in and out more affordable trendier pieces. I tend to get the most wear out of my designer pieces and in terms of being “on trend” they really do have the most longevity. Designer pieces are typically higher quality so you can wear them for years. There are some pieces that I buy a few of each season and wear them on repeat – like chunky knits and scarves. Here are three pieces that I’ve been getting the most wear out of so far this season.

Trench Coat

A great trench coat is a fall classic that will never go out of style. I always keep a camel trench in my fall wardrobe, but last fall I finally splurged and bought this Burberry one. It’s such great quality and the fit is perfect. I went with my normal size for a snug yet slimming fit. I can still fit a chunky knit under it, but it maintains it’s shape and doesn’t look too bulky. I honestly wear mine a few times a week so the cost per wear is pretty low, but if a Burberry one isn’t quite on your radar, there are so many similar ones that are a fraction of the cost like this one.

Chunky Knit

You can never have enough chunky knits in the colder-weather months. The chunkier the better, in my view. I especially love chunky cardigans and pullovers because I can throw them on over anything. I’m almost always wearing some type of chunky knit. This chunky turtleneck is one of my favorite chunky knits right now. I love the bell sleeves and slightly cropped length – which looks great with high-waisted denim or skirts.

Suede Booties

Booties are a must in my fall wardrobe because I wear them more than any other style. I typically buy a few affordable ones (under $100), but I always add a designer pair to my wardrobe too because the quality and comfort tend to be better. I always buy one brown pair and one black pair. These suede brown ones are my latest purchase. I love the chunky heel and they are surprisingly comfortable too!
