The 15-Minute Holiday Makeover Every Busy Girl Needs.

The holiday season is such a busy time of year – between shopping, wrapping, baking and attending holiday parties – it’s easy to get overwhelmed. I feel like I’m always on the go and I often put myself last on my priority list. It’s safe to say if there’s no better time for me to get a little help with my beauty routine. This year, I’m so excited to have gotten a holiday mini makeover at Sephora inside JCPenney. This holiday season, they’re offering three 15-minute holiday mini makeovers: Holographic Holiday, Party Perfect Pout, and Glitter Glam. You don’t have to make an appointment and they’re totally free! I got the Glitter Glam eye makeup look, but I also tried out a bold lip, which I can never resist this time of year. It was honestly the best makeover experience I’ve ever had. First of all, they have the best beauty selection so you really can’t go wrong, but the amount of knowledge that Sonya (my makeup artist) shared with me was on another level. I had no idea how little I knew about doing my makeup! haha. Seriously though the tips and tricks she shared cut my eye makeup routine time in half. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my full makeover experience on my Instastories last week. I got so many questions from all of you so I wanted to share a full description of the process and products used here.
In case you didn’t know, Sephora has exclusive Color IQ technology that scans the surface of your skin to find your best shades for lip, foundation and concealers across all brands. If you’re like me and spray tan, you probably know the struggle is real. It was so nice to not only find the right foundation colors, but to also find lip colors that pair well with my skin tone – something I don’t always think about. Before we started, Sonya prepped my skin with some moisturizing products by Farmacy. I wasn’t familiar with the brand, but it’s a skincare line with naturally derived ingredients and the products are super hydrating and smell amazing. She also used this Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer – which made my products last all day. We used it only on my eyes, but she said if you layer it under foundation – it will give you an airbrushed look so I obviously had to buy it to try at home too.
Sonya used Kat Von D’s Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette on me to start. I loved it so much, I bought one to take home with me and I’ve been using it every day. She also tried out Fenty Beauty’s Eclipse 2-in-1 Glitter Release eyeliner – which I was a little hesitant to try because I typically avoid lots of glitter. It was actually amazing though! You have to try it to see it work, but basically it’s a metallic liner and only turns to glitter if you rub it. She also layered my mascaras – which is a must for me – using my go-to Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara and a new one for me – Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir mascara – which adds major volume.
We decided to try out a halo smokey eye on me. I didn’t even know what that was, but now I’m obsessed with it! It’s similar to a smokey eye, but you also add dark shadow to the inner corners as well as the outer corners of your lid and then use lighter, shimmer shades in the center.
It was the first time I tried out Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty line. We used this Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo from her line for some shimmer. I had no idea how great her products are!
We tried out a couple of lip colors, but I wasn’t totally set on them so we brought out the Color IQ one more time to find my perfect shade.
For the final look, we went with Stila’s ‘Stay All Day’ liquid lipstick in the color ‘Bacca.’ It’s such a gorgeous color!
Sonya showed me how to use Sephora’s Virtual Artist app to try on other colors too. I had so much fun trying out new shades – it’s addicting.
I had such a great experience, I cannot recommend Sephora’s mini makeovers enough! It was so convenient to head to my local JCPenney to try it out. I love that it’s easy to get in and out and you can do a little holiday shopping for everyone on your list at JCPenney afterward.
…And here’s a peek at my full holiday look.
