Chic Ski Wear Worth Investing In This Winter

And for me, winter essentials fall into that category, especially ski wear. A sturdy coat that actually keeps you warm along with boots that can get you through heaps of snow can can make all the difference in your enjoyment of winter. While great ski wear doesn’t come cheap, I’d argue that they’re key to keeping comfortable in freezing temperatures and snowy conditions. Not only that but they can be chic and timeless – even if you’re not a skier. One infallible place to score stylish and durable ski wear is Saks Fifth Avenue. I pretty much shop at Saks anytime I’m looking for an investment piece, but their Ski Shop makes it super easy to find exactly what you need. I’ve gone through the edit and picked out the best pieces you’ll want to grab for your next winter getaway.

Insulated Coat

If you only invest in one thing for your next ski trip, it’s got to be an insulated coat. I’ve gone through tons of coats through the years and nothing beats high-quality outerwear. They’re designed to keep the body warm in freezing temperatures by using materials that trap heat, such as down, synthetic fibers, and wool. I usually pick up a new style each year – and my most recent splurge is this one by SAM. with the shearling trim.

Durable Base Layers

Base layers go without saying on the slopes. For durable, high-quality pieces, seek out garments made from technical fabrics such as merino wool. I also like to have non-technical options for when I’m not skiing. The two base layers I’ve had in my wardrobe for years are this Commando bodysuit and these faux leather leggings. They’ll run you about $100 each but you’ll never need another similar piece in your wardrobe.

Ski Suits

You only need one or two good ski suits in your winter collection. Although pricey, they’re totally worth it if you venture off to the mountains at least once a year. I love one-pieces for their practicality. With no gaps between your parka and your pant, you won’t risk exposing your skin to bare snow or the biting wind. And no matter your personal style, there is a ski suit out there that will suit your needs and taste.

Snow Boots

High quality snow boots aren’t just a must-have for anyone into snow sports, but also for those living in a snowy climate. What I look for in a good snow boot is a sturdy, waterproof exterior to keep out the elements, and a warm, insulation layer to keep your feet toasty. They should also have good tread on the bottom. Although they can be a bit of an investment, they’re 100% worth it as they’ll last longer and provide better protection than cheaper options. Saks carries the brands I rely on, like Moon Boots and Sorel.

Ski Gear & Accessories

High quality ski gear and accessories are also worth investing in if you can spend a little more. Saks has some great performance-grade options that actually look chic. For example, these ski googles. The wide mirrored lenses with the adjustable knit straps will keep you comfortable on the slopes. Also, these ski gloves, which will keep your hands warm and dry.
