How to Style Combat Boots in the Winter

Boots are no doubt a winter staple, but the one style I can’t seem to get enough of lately is combat boots. From designer combat boots to more affordable ones, I just keep adding more to my stash. I love how they instantly toughen up an outfit and add a masculine touch. I’ve shared different ways to style the combat boot before (here) – but wanted to share some winter outfit inspiration since the trend can be harder to nail when it’s frigid out. Whether you’re grabbing coffee or getting together with friends, the winter combat boot outfits below will have you stylish and ready for any occasion.

1. Loungewear
Casual loungewear sets go hand in hand with chunky combat boots. The weather-proof element of the shoe makes them a no-brainer option for a practical, cozy look. I also like how the boots give the relaxed fit a more structured, elevated feel.

2. Shacket & Denim
The outfit combo you’ve probably seen me wear on repeat lately is a shacket and combat boots. I’ll pull together different variations of this uniform, rotating between denim, leggings, or faux leather pants. It’s just so effortlessly chic and easy to throw together.
Goodnight Macaron Teddy Bear Jacket | Goodnight Macaron Bodysuit | Similar White Denim | Sam Edelman Combat Boots (also love this one) | Louis Vuitton Palm Springs Mini Backpack | Similar Pom Pom Beanie
3. Teddy Bear Coat
You guys know how much I love mixing different aesthetics for an interesting look. Winter is all about plush textures like faux shearling and fleece. When meshed with leather or suede combat boots, you have the perfect everyday outfit.
Lovers & Friends Plaid Shirt | Revolve Turtleneck Bodysuit | Zara Faux Leather Pants (similar here and here) | Sam Edelman Combat Boots (also love this one) | Louis Vuitton Multi Pochette Accessories Bag
4. Faux Leather Pants & Flannel
To maximize the throwback vibes of the combat boot, lean into it with a plaid flannel shirt. Faux leather leggings definitely amp up the edgy vibe. However, sticking to a lighter color palette, like beige, keeps the look soft and feminine.
Similar Leather Jacket (also love this one – on sale) | Target Hoodie (under $20) | Topshop Jeans | Chanel Combat Boots (better for budget here) | NY Yankees Cap | Givenchy Antigona Bag
5. Leather Jacket & Hoodie
Sometimes, the best way to rock combat boots is to stick to the basics. An all black outfit with a leather jacket, hoodie, and ripped jeans is as classic as it gets. This outfit gives me major model-off-duty vibes – and is perfect for when you’re off the clock.
Topshop Faux Shearling Biker Jacket | Revolve Bodysuit | Similar White Leather Skirt | Chanel Combat Boots (better for budget here) | Tom Ford Sunglasses (exact style sold out, similar here and here) | Chanel Medium Flap Bag
6. Shearling Biker Jacket & Mini Skirt
Although my style tends to be more feminine, I always love adding a bit of edge to it. Nothing contrasts a mini skirt like these trendy stompers. I love that they’re way more comfortable than a pair of heels – but dressier than sneakers.
Karen Millen Ruffle Sweater | Karen Millen Faux Leather Pants | Chanel Combat Boots (similar here and here) | Chanel 19 Shearling Bag | Kyi Kyi Pom Pom Beanie | Tom Ford Aviator Sunglasses (exact style sold out, similar here and here)
7. Ruffle Sweater & Faux Leather Leggings
The last outfit combo to try with combat boots is a ruffle sweater and faux leather leggings. The grungy bottom half tones down the flirty, romantic nature of the sweater. All you need to complete the look is a pom pom beanie and faux fur handbag.
