I don’t know about you, but I’m already prepping my wardrobe for the warmer seasons ahead. When it comes to Spring 2023 fashion, there is a lot worth making extra room in your closet for. As you know, I am continually trying to find a balance between a timeless approach to style with a mix of current trends. Thankfully, this season’s forecast is proving to be exactly this. From chic maxi skirts to sultry sheer pieces, I can hardly wait to start experimenting with all the newness. And as they say, the early bird gets the worm. Consider this your sign to start dipping your toes into spring trends. Ahead, you will find my guide on where I am personally saving versus splurging on all the latest looks.
Where I Splurge…
Astr The Label Puff Sleeve Top (wearing an XS) | Agolde Jeans (wearing a 23) | Jeffrey Campbell Nude Heels (runs TTS) | Bottega Veneta Aviator Sunglasses (better for budget here) | Fendi Sunshine Tote
Relaxed Denim (also a Save)
While I do have a few affordable pairs of relaxed jeans in my collection, sometimes when you find the perfect denim style, it’s worth going all in. Since jeans are very much an everyday staple, I will happily invest a little more for styles that I absolutely adore. After all, a durable pair of jeans can easily last you for years down the road – even after multiple washes.
Balmain Double Breasted Blazer (similar here) | Superdown Lace Corset Bodysuit (wearing an XS, also love this one) | Similar Faux Leather Shorts (also here) | Saint Laurent Icare Maxi Tote | Saint Laurent Shield Sunglasses (better for budget here) | Similar PVC Strap Heels
Oversized Handbags
Although incredibly chic, we all know tiny handbags just aren’t very practical. This spring season, big bags will be the preferred accessory of choice. Large-and-in-charge hobos, totes, and satchels are not only great for making a statement but for stashing your daily essentials. Since this is a bag you can bring to work meetings, cafe dates, and more, consider splurging to ensure you invest in something that can keep up.
Zimmermann Floral Minidress (exact style sold out, similar here) | Saint Laurent Opyum Leather Sandals | Bottega Veneta Chain Cassette Bag | Bottega Veneta Sunglasses | Saint Laurent Logo Faux Pearl Stud Earrings
Statement Dresses
Warmer weather always puts me in the mood for an ethereal dress. I love brands, like Self-Portrait, Zimmermann and PatBO – they all make dresses that are designed to make a statement with their flowing, dreamy fabrics and delicate details that create an otherworldly effect. Whether it’s some intricate lacework, embroidery, or beading, you’ll feel like a million bucks in their stunning gowns.
SNDYS Leopard Dress (wearing an XS) | Bottega Veneta The Pouch Bag | Rene Caovilla Bronze Heels (better for budget here) | Celine Edge Sunglasses (similar here, better for budget here)
Where I Save…
Maxi Lengths
If I were to choose between the micro mini and the maxi skirt, I would say the latter is right up my alley. The longer hemline looks and feels polished, making it an elegant addition to your wardrobe. From streamlined silhouettes like denim to more flowy varieties, you may even want to snag two or three iterations for mix-and-matching.
Abercrombie Sweater Knit Bodysuit (wearing an XS) | Abercrombie Distressed 90’s Jeans (wearing a 24) | Saint Laurent Kate Reversible Suede Shoulder Bag | Similar Heels
Relaxed Denim (also a splurge)
Admittedly, denim never really goes out of style. However, the in-demand cuts and silhouettes can change. As we ease into spring dressing, jeans with a relaxed fit will reign supreme. This makes for a more casual aesthetic, ideal for styling with anything from knits to button ups and more. Luckily, you don’t have to spend a fortune to keep up with the trend.
Reiss Blazer (better for budget here and here) | Bardot Cropped Lace Top (wearing an XS) | Agolde Distressed Denim (wearing a 23) | Chloe Woody Tote (large size) | Similar Fedora
Sheer Trend
As I mentioned, there is nothing quite like shedding winter layers and replacing them with something light and breathable. And there is no better way to do so than with the sheer trend. Think delicate sheer panels, printed mesh, and breezy tulle. This fun and flirty look is the best way to celebrate the warmer weather.
WeWoreWhat Blazer | WeWoreWhat Wide Leg Pants (similar here) | Lovers + Friends Taupe Bodysuit | Saint Laurent Sunglasses (better for budget here) | Bottega Veneta The Pouch Bag
Wide Leg Pants / Trousers
On days when you are not feeling denim, wide leg pants can come in handy. These relaxed trousers are perfect for when you want a dressier alternative. While splurging on a classic black pair is smart, there are a variety of affordable brands that deliver high-quality options. Consider shopping my picks below to save money on trendier silhouettes, cuts, and colorways.
Abercrombie Cropped Tweed Jacket (wearing an XS) | Club Monaco Linen Shorts (wearing an XS) | Bardot Lace Corset Bodysuit (wearing an XS, better for budget here) | Sam Edelman Platform Sandals (runs TTS) | Bottega Veneta Jodie Mini Bag | Chanel Sunglasses
Bralettes & Corsets
Lingerie inspired dressing is also proving to be larger than life this season. Sultry bralettes and corsets are mainstays when it comes to this trend. Rather than spending an arm and leg on just one bralette, I find it’s best to save in this department. Brands like Free People and Superdown make stocking up on a few varieties of lace tops as easy as ever.
