I’m always working on getting in better shape, which includes eating healthier since I have a major sweet tooth! So recently, I decided it was time for a little detox with Sakara. I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the Sakara meal program since posting it on Instagram, so I wanted to put together an honest review about my experience.

If you haven’t heard of Sakara Life, it’s a plant-based, organic nutrition, and wellness company that delivers meals straight to your home. What makes Sakara unique is that their meals are nutritionally designed by doctors and chefs to ensure they’re not just fresh and delicious – but leave you feeling your best daily. Everything is organic, plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free, non-GMO, and refined sugar-free, so you know you’re consuming only the highest quality ingredients. If you’re interested in trying out Sakara, I’m excited to share they were kind enough to give my readers 20% off any 3- or 5-day Signature Nutrition Program – or the Level II: Detox Program. Just enter the code SAKARAxMARIA at checkout. The code can be used by new and returning clients (limited to one use per client).

Which Program Did You Do & Why?

Through the pandemic over the past year, I had way too much time indulging in heavy meals and wine – and just haven’t been feeling as great. I’ve noticed myself feeling especially sluggish and tired lately, which prompted the need for a detox.

I tried the Sakara Signature Nutrition Program before and loved how it made me feel, so I wanted to do another round. This time, I opted for the 5-day Signature Nutrition Program, which I feel is great for everyone as it’s designed to improve digestion, reduce bloat, increase energy levels, increase focus and more. These are all priorities for me right now.

How Does It Work?

Sakara delivers the 5-day meal program on two separate days so you can be confident that your meals are fresh and tasty. The meals are also individually packed inside a box with freezer bags to ensure everything stays cool. Sakara makes it so easy to stick to the plan since each dish is labeled by day and meal type. I have to admit that I was blown away at how amazing everything looked inside the box. All the packaging is recyclable too, which is a huge bonus!

Did You Notice A Difference?

I loved the doing this meal plan for many reasons… First, it honestly helped me reset my eating habits without feeling like I was on a diet. Once I finished the program, I feel like I don’t make as many poor food choices since I’m more mindful of how food makes me feel. I’ve also been reaching for healthier options that I know will make me feel good.

In terms of immediate benefits, I definitely noticed improved digestion, less bloating and mental clarity. The most noticeable difference for me was that I did not feel sluggish. I was also surprised that I didn’t have any cravings especially since I’m a sugar addict!

Was It Hard To Eat A Plant-Based Diet?

It wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought it would be. I’m a meat eater, but did not miss it at all while doing this meal plan. The meals are infused with really unique flavors and ingredients – and I found them all to be delicious. Overall, I really enjoyed them and did not struggle sticking to the plan. It would be incredibly difficult to recreate some of these meals on your own, which I think makes them more enjoyable. Breakfasts were hands down some of my favorite meals.

Another thing to note is that Sakara’s meal plans are either 3 or 5 days only, making it a breeze to follow. I love that they don’t believe in being too restrictive and using their program 7 days a week. This allows you to still treat yourself to other snacks and dishes in between.

Did You Stay Full?

I’ll be honest in that I was worried about staying full on a plant-based diet. However, the portions were so generous. Oftentimes, I couldn’t finish my meals yet still felt full.

Is It Worth It?

The 5-day meal subscription is around $420, which is not cheap by any means. However, I do think it’s worth it for the convenience and nutritional value you’re getting. I personally LOVED not having to plan my own meals. Sakara just made eating healthy so easy especially with a busy lifestyle. Plus, all the meals are so different and packed with delicious flavors so you’ll never feel bored of what you’re eating. It’s definitely something I’ll treat myself to a few times a year.
