We spent last week in beautiful Hawaii and although it was our first time visiting, we made the most of it. We split our time between three islands – Oahu, Hawaii and Maui. A couple of days in each spot was definitely not enough time, but we wanted to get a taste of each island so that we’d know which one we’d like to come back to visit and spend a week (or longer) in. Our favorite island ended up being the one I least expected – The Big Island (Hawaii). It was much quieter than the other islands and our resort – The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai blew away our expectations. To-date, Bora Bora (where we honeymooned) has been our favorite trip that we’ve ever taken and we weren’t sure that anything could beat that. This was a close second (only because it was our honeymoon after all). The island itself was beautiful and the sunsets were incredible, but The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai was like a little piece of paradise on the island. The ocean-front property consists of two-story bungalows and there really isn’t a bad view on the property. Phil was most excited about Kings Pond which is a pond on the property filled with 4,000 fish and a stingray. Our room overlooked the pond so we snorkeled in it several times while were there. Our whole stay was so peaceful and the service was exceptional – there was always someone waiting to assist you with whatever you might need. Possibly the most memorable part of our experience was the food. On our first night at the resort, we had dinner at Ulu and we had the best meal either of us had ever had! We loved it so much, we went back again the next night and ordered the exact same thing – the Misoyaki Kampachi. We ventured out of the resort one day and went driving through the local towns before making a stop at the lava tube nearby to watch the sunset. Hawaiian sunsets are so incredible!

We spent one morning taking a helicopter tour around Oahu with Paradise Helicopters.
We actually started our trip in Honolulu (we had a direct flight from Minneapolis which was so nice). We stayed at The Modern Honolulu which is a really nice, contemporary hotel right on Waikiki Beach. It was fun to be right in the heart of all the action and still have a relaxing space to stay. I’m obsessed with the decor! We spent the first morning taking a helicopter ride with Paradise Helicopters around Oahu. Our pilot was so knowledgeable and nice. We had a great time and the views were amazing (see the video below for more).

We ended our trip in Maui. We stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani which was a great property right on the ocean on the Wailea Coast. It was a beautiful hotel and the staff was exceptionally kind and accommodating. We had dinner one night at Kō at the hotel. The food was delicious and so were the drinks! The property has several pools (including a waterslide – which of course we had to do several times). Our room overlooked the ocean which was gorgeous! We loved that we had the option of laying by the pools or walking a few more steps to the beach each day. We spent one morning driving to the other side of the island to do the road to Hana. It was fun to see all the little stops along the way, but our favorite was a waterfall that we stopped and swam in. See the video below for more highlights from our trip.
