I hate the idea of having to wear a different bra under every top so I recently went on the hunt for styles that I could wear with most of my tops. You really can’t wear the same bra with your basic tee that you can wear with an off-the-shoulder top or a low-cut neckline so stocking up on a few core styles is necessary – but you don’t have to go overboard.

Here are the only 5 styles that you need

Bralettes

Bralettes are my go-to for day-to-day. I love how comfortable they are and I like the look of a hint of lace peeping out of tanks and basic tees. I layered a lace bralette under this lace bodysuit (worn above). I debated wearing pasties since the cut is so low, but I thought that might feel too revealing. Matching lace under lace makes this bralette feel like it’s part of the bodysuit. This is my favorite lace bralette (which I stocked up on because it’s so cheap!). I’ve also been wearing this one a lot lately because I love the thick lace straps which look great under a cami.

Strapless

I wear a strapless bra under most of my off-the-shoulder tops although lately I’ve been wearing bralettes too because I don’t mind the thin exposed straps which look more like a cami than a bra. For a more conservative setting (like the office), I prefer to wear a strapless bra though. Straps of any kind can feel too sexy for a professional environment. My favorite strapless bra brand is Spanx. They’re seamless which is also important when wearing more fitted tops.

Wireless

I used to wear underwire bras every day, but they just aren’t as comfortable and sometimes the padding and form are just too obvious underneath clothes. This wireless bra is my favorite.

Underwire

If you do desire a little push-up, an underwire bra does work great for that. I prefer less padded options because the combination of padding and underwires can just be a bit much. I love versions like this and this.

Pasties

When going braless seems like the only viable option, I turn to pasties. They’re actually one of my favorite options because they’re so easy to apply and obviously pretty comfortable too (assuming you don’t need lift). Whenever I wear a backless top or dress, I wear pasties. I just buy these cheap ones and I dispose of them after each use. I always keep a box on hand whenever I travel too.

xo, Maria
