I love mixing luxe and basic pieces to create an inspiring off-duty look. As much as I love wearing heels, there are definitely days that I just want to throw on sneakers and a comfortable outfit for running around town. Mastering off-duty style is a lot easier when you have stylish layers on hand. With added layers, you can really take an outfit from basic to bold. My fall must-have piece is always a statement coat because you can throw it on over anything and it dresses it up. You don’t have to spend a lot to add statement pieces to your wardrobe, just stick with neutral colors (black is almost always my go-to) for a richer palette. Here are 5 pieces I always keep on rotation for those off-duty days.

Statement Coat

This is a must for me. I throw mine on over the most basic pieces (tees, sweatshirts, etc) and over dresses for a night out too. A statement coat is so versatile so investing in a good one makes sense. I love the gold hardware on this black coat from Macy’s. It comes in camel too!

Comfy Pullover

With sweater weather finally here, I’m stocking up on every style. A crewneck pullover is my go-to casual sweater. I love how simple and classic the style is. This black textured one is on sale now and comes in 4 colors.

Coated Jeans

I’ll always love my distressed denim, but for a more elevated look that’s still comfortable too, coated denim is a chic alternative. I love how they look like leather, but wear like denim. These are my favorite pair to-date.

Backpack

Backpacks are so versatile. They’re easy to carry and I love using one when I’m running errands. This super chic Tommy Hilfiger bag has the cutest “TH” closure and reminds me of a designer version. It’s honestly one of my favorite non high-end bags that I’ve ever owned.

Sneakers

Sneakers are a must for perfecting off-duty style. No need to suffer in heels to look chic. A classic pair of sneakers will help make your outfit functional and effortless. Converse Chuck Taylors are my go-to.
