I like to think I’m edgy and modern most of the time, but then spring and summer roll around and suddenly I want to wear every dress that I see. It wasn’t only until recently that I started to go through my wardrobe (and ask myself where all of  these dresses came from) that I realized my style’s been evolving maybe a little too much for my own liking. Don’t get me wrong, I love dresses! There can definitely be an occasion to wear them, but I don’t often find myself rocking a dress while I’m working from home or walking my dog or even going to a business meeting. I love wearing dresses on vacation and to special events of course, but I’m not really a dress girl on your average day. I’d rather live in my distressed denim (or shorts) and a statement top 90% of the time. More importantly, I feel best when I’m wearing clothes that reflect me. That’s way staying true to my personal style is really important to me. I’m all about trying out new trends, but I try not to overdo it.

I’ve been trying to be a little more restrained when shopping online lately, but it’s easier than it sounds. There are so many beautiful dresses that I want to buy, but inevitably I know I probably will only wear them once. To combat that “I have nothing to wear” feeling that I think all women go through each new season, I’ve been trying to mix and match pieces more. You can easily rework your favorite denim with a new top or take one of your looks from fall and remove a layer. When it comes to adding new items to my wardrobe, I’ve also been investing in more accessories which can really transform even the most basic pieces. Take for example, this statement necklace. It’s my favorite piece of jewelry right now. I love the choker style combined with the statement necklace. You can wear them separate or together. I also got these new sunglasses (under $100) that go with everything. Phil’s first reaction was “they’re huge” which is exactly what I look for in sunglasses! haha. Seriously though, I love anything oversized and mirrored lenses are always a good idea in my book. I paired these accessories with a casual, everyday outfit which I wore earlier this week. I added these heels for a date night out, but wore flip flops when I had to run some errands earlier in the day. I have been looking for a pair of olive heels and this pair is under $50!
