I love living in cozy sweaters, but my everyday style is a little more professional during the workweek. In the fall you can really get away with mixing the two styles easily since it’s all about layering. If I wear a super casual outfit, I almost always throw on a classic coat and heels to dress it up. I really believe in investing in pieces that get worn so buying quality coats and footwear is always where I focus my fall spending. Here are some of my favorite pieces that transition from work to the weekend.

Classic Coat

Classic, tailored coats in a neutral color are my favorite outerwear pieces – especially a camel coat. Any neutral longline coat is great for the office, but can easily be thrown on over casual pieces for the weekend too. I found this camel coat at Bloomingdale’s. It’s super comfortable (I love the cardigan fit) yet tailored too.

Turtleneck Sweater

I prefer more classic sweater styles like turtlenecks and fitted styles for layering. Turtleneck are great for more conservative office settings – not to mention they’ll keep you warm! For an edgy take, I picked up this cutout turtleneck.

Black Booties

I feel like I can never have too many pairs of black booties. Velvet is huge this season so this pair is definitely on trend and I love the pointed toe for a chic look.

Neutral Backpack

Backpacks are such a great style for work and the weekend. They hold a lot, but aren’t too bulky. This camel-colored one looks way more expensive than it is (it’s $55!). I love how sleek it is.

Black Pants

In the fall and winter, black pants are my go-to for more professional attire. While these ripped skinnies probably aren’t office-appropriate, most denim brands offer a cleaned up version in the colder months. I own this non-distressed pair and love these too.
