One of our weekly traditions when we’re at home is going on a long weekend drive. It’s so relaxing and the dogs love car rides. With all the snow we got this past weekend, we couldn’t resist heading out to explore and take it all in. The snow covered trees and frozen lakes were so pretty to see. A whole level of our house is still under construction so a long drive is the perfect escape for all of us. We headed north to catch a glimpse of the snow covered trees and we stumbled upon this gorgeous area just around sunset. We let the dogs run around and jump in the snow – they love diving in head first which is hilarious to watch.

While this outfit is a little different than what I’m used to sharing, there was just no getting around wearing winter gear to get through the snow. I’ve had these Sorel boots for a couple of years now and they are the best snow boots I’ve ever had. I wear them every day when I take the dogs out and they’re so warm! I even ordered Phil a pair this year because all he’d ever wear was Timberlands outside and they would get soaked and take forever to dry. I realized after looking at these photos that we basically have the same closet. I do most of Phil’s shopping because I love styling men’s clothes and Phil has a modern, easy style that’s hard to mess up. We both gravitate towards similar pieces.

These guys love the snow and exploring new areas. I’ll be honest, it’s a struggle to hold onto both of them while we’re in a new place because they both want to run in opposite directions. Luckily they’re both pretty good at sitting every now and then for a family photo. Leo’s easier than Luna for some reason. She always faces the opposite way or wants to lie down. Look at all that snow on her belly – she had just done one of her deep dives into a pile of snow.

This sunset was unreal the way it hit the trees. The wind blew the snow down at me while I was looking at the sunset and it was so magical – the perfect ending to our mini road trip.
