How To Rework Your Winter Wardrobe Now

Just when spring started to feel closer, this week winter is back in a major way for most of the cold-weather states in the US. It’s a full-blown blizzard outside my window right now. Days like these make me put a pause on my wardrobe shopping. Last week I ordered a bunch of spring transitional pieces, but I’m quickly realizing it will be a while before I can actually wear them. I don’t love the idea of buying winter pieces now unless I know I’ll be able to wear them next year too (usually only works for outerwear). So today I wanted to share how I’m reworking my winter wardrobe favorites to create easy yet chic looks that feel new to me. My favorite way to feel inspired by older pieces in my wardrobe is to pull together a monochromatic look and throw on a statement coat. It’s my no-fail solution for those days when I feel like I have nothing to wear (they seem to be happening a lot more as winter drags on).

I love anything gray right now – it’s probably my favorite neutral at the moment. These shoes and this bag are a couple of my designer purchases for 2018 so clearly I have a thing for gray. I’ve been trying to pull together as many looks to go with these pieces as possible because I always seem to have an affinity towards anything new in my wardrobe and I’ll wear it nonstop.

Someone wrote on one my Instagram pictures the other week that they owned this bag too, but they had the hardest time putting outfits together with it because of the shade of gray that it is. Personally, I don’t mind mixing shades of the same color as long as they are in the same tone. This bag leans more toward cool gray so I’ll pair it with any gray that has bluer tones to it. This sweater and these jeans are two gray pieces that I got a lot of wear out of this winter. They’re super cozy and comfortable and although they’re different shades of gray, they work together because they’re both cooler grays.
