Summer vacations are what I look forward to all year. Whether it’s a quick trip to a beach city or a longer trip to an exotic location, there’s no better way to unwind than with a summer escape. While packing is usually what I dread most when traveling, summer vacations are always my favorite to shop and pack for. It’s so much easier to pull together outfits because summer vacations should feel and look effortless. Most pieces can easily transition from day to night so there’s no need to over pack – although I’m often guilty of it! Here are all the pieces I pack for summer vacations.

1. Evening Dress

I always look forward to making dinner reservations wherever we go. Great food is often what we recall most from some of our favorite trips. I don’t often get the chance to dress up at home so getting dressed up for at least one evening is always fun.

2.  Maxi Dress

Probably the most versatile dress in my summer wardrobe is a maxi dress. You can wear a maxi dress during the day with flats for a casual look, with flip-flops by the pool for a beach cover-up or pair it with heels for an evening-appropriate look.

3. Romper & Two-Piece Set

My go-to look during the day is a romper or two-piece set. They’re so easy to throw on and they look great dressed up or down.

4. Mini Dress

Like rompers and sets, mini dresses are great for day or evening wear. I love wearing mini dresses with flats during the day for a feminine yet casual look.

5. Straw Bag

The only bag you need for summer! I carry straw bags during the day and at night when I’m on vacation.

6. One-Piece Suit

I always pack a one-piece suit for a summer vacation. You can wear a one-piece as a bodysuit during the day with denim shorts or a skirt and then head straight to the beach. I also appreciate having a one-piece on hand for those days when I’m feeling a little too bloated for a bikini.

7. Bikini

The obvious choice for a summer vacation. There are always so many cute ones that I have a hard time choosing which to purchase. I typically wear a bikini to the pool or beach especially if I plan on catching some rays.

8. Beach Cover-Up

This one’s a must-have for pool or beach days. A beach cover-up is the best way to transition from the water to your next activity. I always wear one to the pool and then throw it on again to grab lunch.

9. Espadrilles

Oftentimes the best way to explore a new city is by foot so you want to make sure you’re wearing something comfortable. Comfort doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style though. Espadrilles are the chicest and most comfortable summer footwear.
