The Pieces We Forgot To Put On Our Registry

Today I’m back with my monthly wedding series post. In case you missed last month’s post where I talked about all the registry pieces we’ve used most, you can find that here. This month I wanted to share some of the pieces that I wish we would have registered for. If you’re planning a wedding or already married, but realizing you forgot some key things, I hope you find this post helpful. I didn’t have a wedding planner when I got married so I got pretty overwhelmed with all the details of my big day that I didn’t spend a whole lot of time on things like my registry. Luckily we put the essentials on our registry – which are the pieces we use most to this day, but there were still a lot of pieces that I didn’t even think about adding. Now that we’re in our first home together and entertaining more, I can’t tell you how many times we realize we don’t own a basic tool or serving platter. Of course those realizations always come when you actually need the piece you’re looking for, but by then it’s too late. A few months ago, I actually decided to spend a weekend going through all of our old stuff and identifying what we didn’t have or needed to replace.
We registered at a few different retailers, but the registry that we found to be the easiest and most thorough was Macy’s Wedding Registry. They make it so easy to navigate for both the couple and guests. While we did get the things we use every day like Martha Stewart Collection dishes and glassware, I made the mistake of kind of winging our registry rather than following any sort of checklist or guide. The first thing I did when I was restocking our kitchen recently was go through some of Macy’s registry Top Picks to see what I might be missing. A few essentials that I didn’t register for was serveware like platters and pitchers. I found this pretty Martha Stewart water pitcher – which is great for both serving drinks and as a vase. I also didn’t realize how much we’d use dinner bowls (great for pasta and salads). These Martha Stewart Collection bowls are some of my favorite recent kitchen additions.
