There’s nothing more chic than a monochromatic outfit. Wearing one color head-to-toe definitely makes a statement. If I’m struggling with what to wear, I always reach for pieces in the same shade because a monochromatic look always looks pulled together yet it’s so easy. For summer my favorite monochromatic look is all white. There’s nothing as crisp and clean as white and although it’s always a challenge to keep clean, it’s always chic and it’s the best color to show off your summer tan. Head-to-toe white is a nice change of pace for office wear too. When I worked in a corporate setting, I always looked forward to the summer months when I could get away with wearing white vs. the typical navy and black.

When I shop for white pieces, I always look for clean lines, flowing fabrics and structured silhouettes – those are usually the best pieces to wear to the office too. I wear a lot of white in general in the summer, but to pull off a head-to-toe look, it’s all about layering pieces that complement each other. Varying hemlines, fabrics and silhouettes are the key pulling off a monochromatic look that doesn’t appear boring. For me, I almost always throw on a trench coat when I’m wearing a monochromatic look. Trench coats are a staple in my wardrobe year-round because they add an effortless yet professional vibe to any outfit. In the summer, I’ll opt for lighter-weight options of course and I make sure that whatever I’m wearing underneath looks great on it’s own in case it gets too hot and I have to ditch the trench.
