Lately, I’ve been filling up my wardrobe with some of the biggest trends. So, I wanted to balance that out with contemporary and classic pieces that I could wear during the work week – or on the weekends. Although I don’t work in a traditional office setting anymore, I still like to have workwear staples on hand for those one-off meetings. One of my biggest inspirations for chic workwear has always been Chanel. I’ve always obsessed over its tweed suiting and lady-like sheath dresses. Thanks to the late Karl Lagerfeld, that classic aesthetic has become accessible to the rest of us through his eponymous line, which is available at Bloomingdales.
If you haven’t seen the Karl Lagerfeld collection, I highly recommend it as it offers some of the best career pieces to update your office looks. Each piece falls on the border of classic and contemporary, which resonates a lot with my own style. Today, I wanted to share the Karl Lagerfeld pieces I am currently loving and how I will be styling them for the spring season.
The Karl Lagerfeld collection embodies both feminism and class with some fun mixed in. This tweed jacket immediately grabbed my attention on the Bloomingdale’s site because of the polished structure. When it comes to workwear, I love strong, tailored cuts and this one embodies that. It’s great for balancing out wide leg trousers or fitted pencil skirts. This tweed jacket can easily be styled with a pair of jeans or more formally by layering it on top of your favorite LBD.
I really appreciate how this brand takes basic silhouettes and reworks them into modern pieces. For example, enhancing delicate white lace with scalloped edges or an updated take on the classic tee. For a more casual spin, I paired my tweed jacket with this fun graphic tee. For more professional settings, Karl Lagerfeld’s blouses with lace insets and embellished necklines are great replacements for a standard button-down shirt.
Lace Sheath Dress
When dealing with a hectic workweek, there’s nothing better than a lace sheath dress that doesn’t require much thought. And rather than defaulting to black, you can brighten up the office with yellow lace, blush and pale blue tones. I love that all these dresses are modest enough to be worn to work – yet double up as a special occasion ensemble.
If your 9-to-5 requires a professional uniform, the Karl Lagerfeld collection is a great way to update your workwear wardrobe and explore a more feminine side of office style. Be sure to check it out at Bloomingdales!
