It’s crazy to me that we’re more than half-way through 2019 and fall is on the horizon. I am at that point now where I’ve started my fall shopping list and can’t wait to bring on the chilly autumn weather! While there are a few key pieces I’ll never retire like knitwear and basics, I definitely have some new trends on my radar, such as animal print and leather. Instagram tends to make us think that we can’t wear the latest trends without spending a lot of money, but that isn’t the case at all. In fact, I’ve acquired several pieces this year from Walmart and love how affordable and accessible it makes trends available to us. Animal Print

Animal print is a bold trend that looks great on everyone. Wearing it from head-to-toe can feel gaudy, but luckily, there are endless ways to incorporate the trend into your daily outfits. Leopard and snake print footwear are an effortless way to interpret the trend without going full blown animal. For a more elevated take on the trend, you can also try croc-embossed shoes and accessories (love these boots). Once you’re ready to take it up another notch, try all an over printed garment, such as a denim jacket or dress. It’s definitely the statement trend that is going to turn heads. There is something so iconic about adding a leather jacket to your outfit. I love layering mine over both printed and basic tops for an edgy chic look. Fall is all about layering so it’s always nice to grab a fresh batch of basics. Ruffles, dark florals, puff sleeves, and prairie-inspired silhouettes are quickly emerging as a major fall trend. I’m a big fan because it’s one you can wear now with sandals and transition into fall with boots.

Updated Knitwear

Fall wouldn’t be fall without a cozy sweater. I’m all about chunky, oversized styles that I can throw over denim as well as comfy cardigans to layer over basics and camis. Capes are also going to be a big hit this season and I always love how lady-like they look over anything. This one is super affordable and chic – and I love the olive color too!
