It’s garments like tees, camis, and denim that I reach for day in and day out because they’re so easy to rework into different seasons. This is so important to me because I just hate the idea of wearing something once and not being able to restyle it again. With a great foundation of basics, getting dressed becomes infinitely easier and you’ll always look chic too. Now that we’re moving into late summer, it’s a great time to swap out your summer basics for transitional ones that can be taken into the colder seasons. Scroll on for the new wardrobe staples that I’m buying now and will keep on heavy rotation later.

1. Long Sleeve Tops

Long sleeve tees and bodysuits are some of the best pieces to invest in for fall and winter. You can wear it now with skirts and shorts but layer it underneath a trench coat in the fall. I prefer formfitting styles for a seamless effect underneath heavy layers. They’re also slimming, which is key to minimizing bulk.

2. Lightweight Sweaters

One of the things I love most about fall is sweaters. As summer nights start to cool down, lightweight sweaters are perfect for throwing over anything and staying cozy. They’re also a great way to make your summer pieces more fall-ready.

3. White Tee

The perfect white tee is one of those pieces I wear all year round and I always have both a V-neck and crewneck on hand. They’re just so versatile whether you need a top to pair with a dressy skirt or want something easy to throw over jeans and sneakers. No wardrobe is complete without this piece.

4. Knit Tank Top

Knit tanks and camis are newer additions to my wardrobe and I’m loving how simple yet chic they look. You can pair a neutral-colored version with white denim now and wear it as a layering tank in the fall. It can easily be dressed down with jeans or teamed with a skirt for a night out.

5. High-Waisted Jeans

If you’re shopping for fresh denim, high-rise jeans are essential this season. Not only are they incredibly slimming and make your legs look super long, but you can style them in a myriad of ways. I love wearing mine with midriff tops, bodysuits, and chunky knits.

6. High-Waisted Trousers

When I’m not in the mood for jeans, high-waisted trousers are the next best option. I love that you can easily take them from the office to the weekend. Plus, you can style them now with chic summer slides or later with pointed-toe pumps.

7. Cardigan

I’m obsessed with cardigans and can rarely pass up a good one even though we still have plenty of warm days ahead. I’ve already started wearing mine and love how they complete an outfit. I’m always freezing inside buildings and even in the car, so having one around to throw on in the middle of the day is a must.

8. Leather Jacket

If there’s one jacket that I’ll never get tired of, it’s a moto jacket because you can wear it with anything. Leather is going to be a huge trend this fall and I’m so excited for it since I have so many great styles in my collection. It’s one of those rare pieces that always pulls an outfit together.

9. Neutral Blazer

A well-tailored blazer is a staple for the modern woman. Whether you’re working or running errands, a smart blazer has the power to elevate the most basic looks even if it’s a graphic tee and jeans. It’s the one piece I wear most and one of the best investments I’ve ever made.

10. Pumps

Investing in a quality pair of pumps can do wonders for your wardrobe. They instantly elevate anything from denim to dresses and everything in between. I love how it streamlines any outfit and also gives the best boost of confidence.
