6 Ways to Wear Combat Boots This Fall

Fall is one of my favorite seasons for footwear because that means I can bring back all my favorite boots. This year, I have been totally crushing on combat boots. I am really drawn to the rugged, military style – which gives a completely different vibe from my go-to classic pumps. As the weather continues to get colder, combat boots offer a practical and more comfortable way to look chic. I’m so happy that they’re a huge trend this season because they keep my feet infinitely warmer! Although this boot trend offers a much heavier look if you gravitate towards feminine style, pairing them with your usual fall outfits is much easier than you think! Today, I’m sharing six different ways to wear combat boots this season.

1. Leather Skirt & Shearling Jacket
A quick and easy way to style combat boots is to mirror the leather fabric within other parts of your outfit. Luckily for us, full leather looks are huge for fall and winter this year. I love rocking my combat boots with a leather mini (see more ways to style a leather skirt here). The shorter hemline of a mini skirt keeps the look feminine while the boots add a cool-girl edge.
H&M Black Sweater (wearing an XS, similar here) | Blank Denim Faux Leather Pants (run TTS, also love these) | Chanel Bag | Chanel Combat Boots (several available here, better for budget here) | Saint Laurent Sunglasses | AU Rate Gold Ring
2. All Black Outfit
Combat boots are a great way to toughen up an everyday outfit. One of my favorite pairings is an all black outfit. Tucking your coated black jeans into the boots results in a sleek, minimal look that elongates the entire body. Complete the outfit by throwing on your coziest black chunky knit sweater, which breaks up the black with some texture.

3. Street Chic
Anything can look great with a good-fitting pair of jeans – and combat boots are no exception. Lighter washes are perfect if you want your boots to pop out amongst your look because it creates the perfect contrast. However, if you want something more streamlined, opt for denim with a darker wash. I’ll often layer a lightweight cardigan on top and I love how it creates a simple, street chic look.
Balmain Blazer (better for budget here) | Abercrombie Black Crop Top (wearing an XS) | Revolve Brown Skirt (wearing an XXS) | Chanel Bag | Chanel Quilted Combat Boots (DM or email for details, better for budget here) | Givenchy Sunglasses
4. Feminine Skirt & Blazer
Outfits that play with contrasting aesthetics always ensure a look is fresh and fun. Since combat boots are so bold, it is fun to pair them with items that are on the daintier side. Tailored pieces like a blazer, ruffled details, lace, and satin are generally more feminine and look amazing and balanced when worn with something edgier like combat boots.
Gucci Belt (read my ‘Gucci Belt Sizing Guide’ HERE) | BCBG Feather Jacket (wearing an XXS) | Blank Denim Faux Leather Pants (wearing a 24) | Commando Black Bodysuit | Chanel Bag | Saint Laurent Sunglasses | Zara Boots (sold out, similar here) | Similar Black Beanie
5. Leather Pants & Faux Fur Coat
As far as casual looks go, combat boots are perfect for creating an effortless, off-duty model look. As it gets colder out, I find this boot can easily replace your high-top sneakers in all your outfits. To achieve that relaxed, street style look, try pairing your shoes with some skinny leather pants pants. For this type of aesthetic, I love throwing on a faux fur coat and pompom beanie to keep it casual and cool.
Canada Goose Parka (wearing an XS, also here) | Alo Yoga Cutout-Sleeve Hoodie (on sale!) | Asos Black Denim (under $50! wearing a 24) | Timberland Boots (also love these, on sale!) | Quay x Desi Perkins High Key Sunglasses | Kyi Kyi Pom-Pom Hat (on sale!) | Prada Cahier Bag
6. Parka & Denim
The end of fall starts to feel more like winter here in Minnesota, which calls for a heavy duty coat. On the chilliest days, I’ll reach for a parka and throw it over jeans and combat boots. This combo always makes for a cozy chic look.
