They’re not only comfy and cozy but look great layered over anything. I also love how they come in a variety of shapes and sizes that offer endless styling options for an entire season. At the end of the day, you can always rely on a cozy cardigan to keep you warm whether you’re headed to work or need a cool weekend look. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with this super chunky knit, but there are many other chic styles that range from duster cardigans to cropped, 90’s-inspired pieces. Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite ways to style this winter essential!

1. Break up an all-black outfit

I tend to wear a lot of black outfits in the winter and will usually rely on a different-colored cardigan to break it up. The soft, knit texture does a great job softening more urban pieces like leather joggers, graphic t-shirts, and hoodies.

2. Layer over a bodysuit and high-waisted jeans

When I want to dress down a fitted ensemble, I’ll usually swap out my go-to jacket for a chunky cardigan. A neutral color with a shawl collar is the most versatile for this type of outfit because it’s doesn’t hold a structured shape and looks really effortless.

3. Pair with a lace cami

My go-to outfit combo for a casual day is a camisole with ripped jeans and a cozy cardigan. It’s the perfect way to layer up and still look chic. Like most girls, I’m always freezing, so I always have one on hand to throw on. A looser, oversized fit is my favorite so it fits comfortably over long sleeves.

4. Mix with luxe textures

Nothing says cozy more than luxe textures mixed together – plus, it makes for a more interesting look. I’ll often mix a fluffy cardigan over rich fabrics, like silk and leather, then throw on some suede pumps. The final result is always elegant, chic, and put-together.

5. Wear it buttoned up & pulled off the shoulder

A cozy, cropped cardigan is the perfect alternative to your typical pullover sweater. I’ll often size up for a looser fit, then fasten a few buttons and pull it off the shoulders for a sexy, feminine touch. You can pair this top with your favorite lace bralette, skinny jeans, and a few winter accessories.

6. Layer it over a tucked-in cardigan

So many fashion girls are tucking a fitted cardigan into their jeans, and I’m totally loving the French vibe. You can take this combination to the next level by throwing a chunky cardigan on top like I did above. It looks even more cozy – and is super practical if you don’t feel like wearing a heavy coat.

7. Belt it over a dress

You guys know how much I love belting a coat or blazer over my outfits. Well, this small styling trick words for longer cardigans too. Whether you’re wearing a slip dress or tunic sweater, a longline sweater layered on top and nipped at the waist always looks so chic and classic.
