I’m especially dreaming about long, lazy days on the beach in a cute swimsuit. There are so many cute styles I’m dying to wear this season from retro-inspired suits to bold, playful prints and everything in-between. I wanted to share the top 2020 swimwear trends worth buying right now in case you’re wanting to add some newness to your wardrobe – or have a beach trip planned in the months ahead. I personally love adding updated swimsuit styles to my collection every season even if I don’t have anywhere to go because there’s bound to be an occasion for it.

High-Waist, High-Cut

High-waist, high-cut bikini bottoms have been on trend for a few seasons now and it’s no different this summer. High-cut bottoms are even becoming a key detail in one-piece suits. Since it can be a bit more revealing, I prefer clean and simple silhouettes that don’t draw too much attention. That being said, the good news is this style boasts a slimming and elongating effect that looks great on most bodies.

Underwire

Underwire bralettes are one of the biggest 2020 swimwear trends to have on your radar. They don’t just give off a feminine retro look, but they also provide some extra lift, which is flattering on all body types. I especially love this trend paired with high-waisted and belted bottoms.

Tropical Print

Give your solid swimsuits a break and opt for bold tropical prints this season. I love how the playful pattern works on the beach or by the poolside. All you need to complete your swimwear look is a neutral-colored cover-up, some slide sandals, and a straw bag.

Animal Print

I’m also loving all the animal-inspired swimsuits from leopard to snake skin prints. They’re a great option if you love neutrals but want something with a little more visual interest. Given the statement-making nature of animal print, I recommend sticking to minimalist silhouettes like this one-piece suit or this bikini set. Either style can transition to a daytime look by adding denim cutoffs or linen trousers.

Ruffles

I’m all about romantic ruffle details for a soft, feminine look. Whether you love prints or prefer solid neutrals, ruffles make any simple bikini set seem less basic. Another thing I love about ruffled details on swimwear is that they work particularly well on petite frames. It adds a bit more shape and volume to the body in such a flattering way.

Cutout

Cutout bikinis are definitely having a moment in the spotlight this spring and summer. Expect to see lots of one-pieces with cuts along the torso and bikini tops with straps that wrap around the waist. This small detail really accentuates the body and also makes the minimalist swimsuit trend feel a bit more fresh.
