The Summer Outfit Combinations I Swear By

comments
You guys have probably noticed me wearing very similar pieces from season to season, and it’s usually because I feel most inspired by being able to style one piece in multiple ways. This is especially true in the summertime when I can’t get as creative with layering. Since it’s so hot and humid, I don’t like to put too much thoughts into my looks and tend to keep it simple with basics and a few statement pieces thrown into the mix. I usually resort to one of five different outfit combinations throughout the season, which I wanted to break down today.
Balmain Blazer (wearing an FR34, better for budget here) | Marissa Webb Leopard Shorts (wearing a 0, better for budget here) | Free People Tank (wearing an XS) | Tamara Mellon Heels (better for budget here) | Bottega Veneta Bag (better for budget here) | Quay Sunglasses
High-Waisted Shorts, Tank Top & Blazer
Wearing the same old basics can get uninspiring really quick, which is why I love mixing them with more tailored and structured pieces. Two of my summer essentials are belted high-waisted shorts and a blazer. These pieces always manage to pull together a flawless ensemble.
Saint Laurent Rive Gaunche Linen Tote | Rag & Bone Panama Hat (on sale now) | Similar Linen Dress (and here) | Madewell Earrings
Day Dress & Woven Handbag
On days when the heat and humidity levels are at an all-time high, I’m just not in the mood for denim or pants. Instead, I’ll opt for a casual dress in a breathable fabric like linen or cotton and spruce it up with a woven handbag. I love that dresses like the one above can transition from day to night depending on how you style it.
Revolve Eyelet Top (wearing an XS) | Levi’s Denim (wearing a 23, more sizes here) | Alexandre Birman White Heels
Statement Top, Distressed Jeans & Strappy Heels
It’s no secret that I love items that can easily be mixed and matched. Distressed denim is usually my top choice for bottoms paired with a chic statement top. I’m obsessed with statement details that really pop, like eyelet, lace, and billowy sleeves. Although sneakers are a mainstay in my wardrobe, I love wearing heeled sandals in the summer for a dressier vibe.
Nordstrom Leopard Shirt (40% off now! wearing an XS) | Nordstrom Ear Crawler Earrings | Anine Bing Lace Bralette | Black Denim Shorts | Gucci Belt (wearing a size 70 – read my ‘Gucci Belt Sizing Guide’ HERE) | Similar Sunglasses | Tamara Mellon Heels (run TTS) | Similar Gucci Velvet Bag
Button Down Top & Cutoff Shorts
One of the summer outfit combinations I swear by is cutoff shorts paired with a button down top. It’s such a versatile look that you can dress up or down for any day of the week. A fun leopard print is a great way to spice things up – but you can’t go wrong with the effortlessly chic vibe of a white button down top. I always add a lace bralette underneath for a feminine touch.
Similar Gucci Hat | Gucci Sneakers (size down by 1/2) | Levi’s Denim Shorts (wearing a 24 – run TTS) | Gucci Tee (wearing an XXS) | Zara Cream Tweed Blazer (wearing an XS – similar here) | Celine Luggage Tote
Graphic Tee, Denim Cutoffs & Straw Hat
When it comes to summer style, I love going for an ultra casual and laid-back vibe. I typically rely on denim cut-offs, white tees (or graphic tees), and sneakers. The great thing about these simple basics is that you can really amp them up with fun accessories like a bold handbag, a straw hat, and embellished sneakers.
