Summer is the season to socialize, so it’s always a good idea to have a some day to night outfits handy even during quarantine. Although many people struggle transitioning the same outfit from a daytime occasion to an evening one, it’s actually pretty simple as long as you have the right foundational pieces. Today, I wanted to highlight 8 different yet versatile looks that you can rework for any occasion this summer. You probably already have most of these items in your closet so you can quickly recreate them right now. I chose outfits that I felt required little styling effort but still have a high-impact effect. Whether you’re spending the day at home or at the office, keep scrolling for my tips on how to spruce up a single outfit at night.

1. Floral Dress & Blazer
I’m all about floral dresses in the summer, but if you know you’ll be doing something later in the evening, go for something with interesting details like a corset-inspired bodice, eyelet fabric, or lace. It will stand out for a date night or drinks but won’t feel overwhelming during the day with flat sandals.
2. Cardigan + Paperbag Shorts
I’m obsessed with paperbag shorts and own several variations of this short style because they naturally feel more elevated and polished. Keep it casual during the day with a neutral cardigan but spice it up at night by adding some high-heels and statement earrings.
Revolve Black Jumpsuit (wearing an XXS) | Gucci Belt (also here, wearing a size 70 – read my Gucci Belt Sizing Guide HERE) | Givenchy Sunglasses (better for budget here) | Chanel Bag | Manolo Blahnik Heels (better for budget here) | Similar Necklace
There’s something about a sleek jumpsuit that feels sophisticated and chic. You can wear it as it comes for the daytime, but add a bold belt and ankle-strap heels for the evening. The waist-cinching effect of a belt makes the jumpsuit feel more structured and sexy. If it gets chilly where you live, you can even toss on a moto jacket for some added edge.

4. Bodysuit + White Jeans
As casual as jeans are, they can easily be dressed up too – it’s all about the details in your top. I love the seamless fit of a bodysuit. Just be sure to seek out details that bare a little more skin, such as an off-the-shoulder neckline or unique cutouts. With heels, this look is just as appropriate for the day as it is for the evening.

5. Denim Shorts, Blazer + Heels
If your style tends to be more casual, you’ll be glad to hear that denim cutoffs can be just as chic for the day or at night. A smart blazer and high-heeled mules elevate the look instantly even with a basic knit top underneath. I love wearing simple combinations like this with a mini handbag for more of a “going-out” vibe.

6. Silk Cami + Neutral Shorts
Luxe textures like silk and satin make the outfit transition from day to night so much easier, which is why I’m a fan of slinky camisoles. When the weather is hot and humid, this top pairs beautifully with tailored shorts in a contrasting color. Layer on some gold chain necklaces to take the look up another notch.
7. Ruched Dress + Chain Bag
I always strive to dress for comfort in the heat and love jersey dresses because they’re so easy to wear. That said, they do tend to feel more day-time appropriate. That’s where ruched detailing makes all the difference. They make a simple jersey dress feel more feminine and sexy, which is just perfect for a hot summer night.

8. Bodysuit, Distressed Jeans + Blazer
One of the ways I typically dress up the most basic pieces in my wardrobe, like jeans and a tank top, is by layering on a blazer and slipping into my favorite heels. This outfit combination never fails me no matter where I’m headed during the week. I love heavily distressed denim for a cool-girl vibe.
