If you didn’t know, Walmart is a great place to find trendy pieces and affordable basics when you don’t want to spend a lot of money. This year, I’ve done quite a bit of my summer shopping at Walmart from basics that look more expensive than they are to seasonal dresses and sandals. If you’re like me and want the ease of shopping for an outfit in one place, Walmart’s fashion department is an ideal starting point. As we ease into the second half of summer, I’m loving all the latest pieces that just dropped and wanted to share some of the trendiest and most affordable basics that are worth grabbing now.
The Best Basics…
There’s nothing I love more than purchasing a garment that I know will last me for several seasons. While summer is in full swing right now, it’s never too early to start thinking about light layers that you can wear beyond Labor Day. A linen camo jacket is a great addition if you want to add some casual edge or you can go for something more classic like this white blazer I’m wearing. I love that the sleeves are slightly cropped so I don’t feel too layered up in the scorching heat.
Tees & Tanks
Tees and tanks are a wardrobe must-have regardless of season, and Walmart offers an unwavering selection for under $20. I tend to stock up on them during the summer and keep in rotation through winter. I’m obsessed with the oversized fit of this boyfriend t-shirt. It’s so easy to tuck into jeans or shorts and is ultra breathable so you can wear it anytime of the year. I also appreciate that Walmart offers basics in two-pack sets (here and here) so I can grab multiple colors at once. When I find something I like, I tend to buy multiples of it anyway.
A girl can never have too many jeans since they often withstand wear and tear and can be worn year-round. Since I’m on the petite side, I tend to prefer cropped styles. They really elongate the legs, especially when paired with heels and combined with pieces in similar colors. This pair is under $15 and comes in the perfect wash of black.
The Trendy Pieces…
Dresses & Jumpsuits
Dresses and jumpsuits can often make an outfit entirely on their own, which is why I’m such a fan. Even if you keep the rest of your look minimal, a one-piece can make a statement, especially if it features a fun print or unique details. I’m currently focusing on neutral printed dresses and long sleeve details that way I can make use if it through early fall. It’s super cute with lace-up sandals now but will also be wearable with booties later.
It’s no secret that I basically live in statement tops throughout the warmer months. I’m always on the lookout for darling details like a square neckline, ruching, puff sleeves, or a smocked bodice. Whether you pair this top with a basic skirt or your favorite pair of jeans, a statement top can take you from day to night instantly.
Sandals are definitely a seasonal piece, which is why I prefer to save on them. I’m so impressed with Walmart’s summer sandal collection right now. As you guys can probably tell, I’ve pretty much worn these heels and these flats all season long. They’re incredibly versatile, comfortable and go with so many different looks whether you’re at home or running out.
