I just love shopping for pieces that I can style multiple ways, knowing that they can be mixed and matched with one another. Some of those key pieces include tees, tank tops, bodysuits, and statement tops mixed with lightweight jackets. I can pretty much live in them throughout the spring and summer. Shopping for high-quality basics can be tricky, especially when you want them to withstand several washes and last beyond one season. That’s why I’m always on the hunt for the best basics that are not only affordable but hold up as well as higher end brands. It was no surprise to me that Nordstrom’s in-house brands makes some of the best basics out there. Nordstrom has always been one of my go-to places to shop since their free shipping and return policy makes online shopping so easy, but I’m especially loving this season’s lineup of timeless basics. Today, I wanted to share some of the best pieces you can shop now.

My everyday style is laid-back and casual during the summer. I’m often wearing bodysuits, tank tops, and fitted tees because they’re slimming and work effortlessly with everything! This summer, I purchased a ton of tank tops from Treasure & Bond at Nordstrom because they fit flawlessly and hold up incredibly well. The material feels luxe compared to other basic tanks I’ve tried – and they’re surprisingly affordable with most tops running under $30! When I want something a little more seamless, I’ll opt for a bodysuit instead.

To switch up my everyday style and spice things ups, I’ll often trade my basic tee situation for a statement top. I love how statement tops are so easy to style with jeans, denim cutoffs, or skirts – and they instantly dress things up too. I’ll be honest in that I typically wear statement tops for one or two seasons so I prefer not to spend too much on them. I find that Nordstrom’s in-house brands let you experiment with the latest trends without blowing your budget. There are also more classic pieces like lace camis that you can wear over and over again too.

Button-down tops are a must-have because they work for the office as well as the weekends. I could literally wear them every day because they look so classic with denim but can also be tied over dresses or styled as a swimsuit cover-up. A quality button-down top will typically run you above $100 but Nordstrom makes it easy to score some great options for much less than that.

One of my favorite things to wear during late summer is a lightweight jacket, such as a utility jacket, a trench coat, or a blazer. Since outerwear is often the most visible item, I often go for a strong highlight piece that pulls an outfit together. I love how a utility jacket elevates even the most basic outfits given the industrial detailing. The Treasure & Bond jacket I’m wearing is a linen blend so it’s light and breathable enough for the summer heat but can also be layered throughout fall.

For an easy, one-and-done look, I often turn to knit dresses or tie-waist trousers. When I want to look more polished, tie-waist trousers always do the trick since they transition so well from day to night. I have to admit that they can feel more comfortable and less stuffy than denim. As far as dresses go, you can’t beat the comfort of stretchy knit dresses. They’re also super trendy right now and can be accessorized to look dressier.
