The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale kicked off this week for Icon Members, and I was lucky enough to visit my local Nordstrom to test out all the pieces on my wish list. I wanted to share the full details of my try-on session straight from the fitting room so you can get a better idea of what you should grab first. As much as I love the sale, I know how overwhelming it can be to navigate when everyone is talking about it. That’s why I love sharing these try-on sessions. My goal is to help you see which pieces you can style multiple ways and really get the most mileage from – because let’s be honest, you don’t need every single sweater. This camel coat was high on my wish list, so it was one of the first pieces I tried on. I immediately fell in love with the oversized fit and color. It’s such a classic – and reminds me of higher-end ones from Anine Bing and Rag & Bone. You can see more ways I styled it below.

I always grab one or two cardigans from the NSale, and this year’s pick is this Madewell cardigan. I love the unique colorblock design, which is so different from anything I currently own.

Accessories-wise, Nordstrom really impressed me with all their chic and affordable fedoras. This one is under $40 and it’s such a smart buy because you’ll be able to wear it years down the road.

I didn’t want to stock up on too many booties this year, but one of my absolute must-haves were these Marc Fisher suede boots. You can wear them now with your summer outfits – but transition them into fall with jeans later.

I also really narrowed down my denim options this season and grabbed only two pairs. The first is these Mother jeans – they’re a great, slightly distressed pair for fall. I like that they’re a lighter wash, but not too light. The ankle crop is also perfect for us shorter girls.

Here’s a closer look at my favorite affordable sweater. It’s an all-around great buy for fall because it’s so lightweight and soft. You can wear it from the office to the weekends.

The only other cardigan I picked up was this one. It’s slightly more expensive but feels so cozy and sumptuous. You can wear it while you’re lounging around the house or layered over a dress.

One of the pieces I didn’t expect to love so much was this knit dress. The ribbed stretchy fabric is perfect for all body-types and it’s such a versatile piece. You can wear it on its own now or pair it with a cozy cardigan come fall.

The knit dress works perfectly for the office too. All you need is to layer the perfect plaid blazer over it! This blazer is a little oversized and makes the ideal work-to-weekend piece.

The Free People tunic sweater is long enough to be worn as a sweater dress, which you guys know I love! It looks amazing with this waterfall camel coat (I’m still obsessed with that drapey collar)!

The one thing missing from my wardrobe are white boots, so these were a no-brainer. They’re not only affordable but versatile and wearable with the low block heel and pointed toe. You can easily pair them with jeans or dresses as seen above.

I’m a sucker for anything leather in the fall. This skirt comes in the perfect shade of brown – and is another work-to-weekend staple.

This reversible jacket was an unexpected surprise. It looks even better in real life and is such a high-quality piece. If you’re looking for a splurge-worthy coat from the sale, this is it. I paired it with an equally soft cashmere sweater, which I highly recommend stocking up on. You can’t beat the price for full cashmere.

The only other jeans I picked up was this black pair by Madewell. It’s a basic, clean style that will take you beyond the years. It’s so slimming and can be styled in endless ways.

I was planning to grab these mules in black or white, but they were even better in leopard in real life. They look so effortlessly chic with layered fall outfits.

My style in the fall tends to be a little more edgy, so I can never resist a leather jacket. This one is made by my favorite vegan leather brand, Blank NYC – and it’s ridiculously soft. You can’t really beat the amazing price (under $60!).

Rag & Bone makes some of the best wool fedoras out there, but it can be hard to catch them on sale. That’s why I picked up this camel one and this white one. They’re going to be staple hats this fall and winter.

There were so many great sneakers in this year’s NSale event, but it doesn’t really make sense to buy them all. These Swift Run sneakers are definitely a top pick – the spotted one is super cute and will make your outfits pop.

Lately, I’ve been focusing more on high-quality pieces, which is why I caved into this Vince sweater. It’s an investment piece but 100% worth it. It has a relaxed vibe to it but can be dressed up with boots and leggings.

I wasn’t planning to buy slippers, but I couldn’t pass on these when I tried them. They’re seriously warm, cozy, and plush – basically an essential item for Minnesota winters!
