August is always such a busy month for me shopping-wise. It’s usually when I start gearing up my wardrobe for fall so I try to take advantage of the new drops and pre-fall sales that kick off. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale was definitely a highlight of the month. I hope that you guys were able to scoop up everything you wanted, but in case you weren’t, most of the items are in stock and available to shop. (If you need a refresher, you can see how I styled all my favorite items here). Today, I wanted to share a recap of my favorite August outfits in case you need a little inspiration on what to wear right now. I pulled a mix of both pre-fall and late summer looks that’s suitable for the summer-to-fall timeframe.
1. Walmart Fall Look
It’s hard to believe that this entire outfit is from Walmart. I’m constantly surprised by all the chic and affordable finds I discover with each passing season. I already know I’ll be wearing the camel bodysuit a ton this fall. It’s so easy to layer and also looks really polished when worn alone.

2. Gray Layers
With fall underway, it’s a good time to stock up on knitwear. This cowl neck sweater was an essential last year and it was also a part of the recent NSALE. You can purchase it in four different colors and wear it through the remainder of the year.
3. Fall Basics
A ribbed knit dress has really become an essential in my wardrobe. It’s such an easy piece to dress up or down. I wore it here with a faux leather jacket and sneakers, but you can also see how I elevated it in the photo below.
4. His & Hers City Chic
Phil and I loved putting this look together for you guys last month. It’s not everyday that we get to dress up and take photos, so it was definitely an exciting moment. I wore a black knit dress from the NSALE with ankle strap heels and a cozy cardigan while Phil wore a BOSS suit. It’s a typical date night combo we’d pull together late in the summer.
Mango Coatigan (sold out, similar here and here) | Mock Neck Bodysuit | Similar Wide Leg Pants | Schutz Heels | Bottega Veneta The Pouch (in camel color) | Celine Sunglasses (similar here, better for budget here)
5. Transitional Dressing
Now is the time to start putting together transitional outfits. I find that white and camel is a foolproof color combination that always looks chic. This outfit works for the office or drinks in the evening.
6. Black & White
I purchased quite a bit of sweaters and cardigans from the NSALE, so I’m always looking for ways to start wearing them now as the weather cools down. Pairing a light knit top with denim shorts always seems to work – and it’s an outfit that can be worn anywhere too.
Spanx Faux Leather Leggings (wearing an XS) | Blank NYC Faux Leather Jacket (wearing an XS) | All Saints Camel Sweater (sold out, similar here) | Similar NY Yankees Baseball Cap | Louis Vuitton Palm Springs Mini Backpack | Golden Goose Leopard Sneakers (better for budget here)
7. Favorite Faux Leather
I’m most excited for leather weather as we approach the fall season. These Spanx faux leather leggings are one of the staple pieces I swear by. It’s not only comfortable but looks so sleek and trendy. The leggings have a bit of a sheen to them so you can get away with styling it with a leather jacket.
Commando Faux Leather Leggings (wearing an S) | Nordstrom Waterfall Camel Coat (sold out, similar here) | Free People Black Tunic Sweater (sold out, similar here) | Steve Madden Over-The-Knee Boots (under $100) | Louis Vuitton Toiletry Bag 26
8. Classic Camel
I’m all about camel coats and over-the-knee boots in the fall, and this outfit gives you the best of both worlds. I love that you can wear it with black or cream base layers and it’s just as chic.
9. Wardrobe Essentials
You guys already know how important I think it is to invest in timeless staples, like a silk cami. It’s a polished and feminine garment that you can fall back on when you don’t know what to wear. I like that this one comes with wider straps so you can wear it to the office or during your Zoom meetings.
10. White Summer Dress
If you’re not ready for the passing of summer just yet, you still have a few more weeks to squeeze in a romantic white dress. This little mini was perfect in every way with the off-the-shoulder neckline, rumpled eyelet edges, puffed sleeves, and smocked bodice. It’s so good with espadrilles but can also be paired with heels.
