With the passing of Labor Day, I’m officially in the mood for fall. It’s my favorite season to get dressed because there are so many layering ideas and trends to play with from oversized blazers and tailored outerwear trends to cozy knits and boots. I also find that it’s much easier to come up with unique outfit combinations around this time of the year. Fall is all about effortless, cozy pairings as well as more polished, layered looks. If you’re interested in trying out a new crop of stylish fall outfit ideas this year, I’m rounding up 10 of my favorites below. We’re still in that strange transition from summer to fall but many of these looks can be adjusted for the weather no matter where you live.
Balmain Blazer (wearing an FR 34, better for budget here) | Louis Vuitton Shawl (better for budget here) | Frame Coated Denim (sold out, similar here) | Louis Vuitton Pouch | Tom Ford Sunglasses (better for budget here) | Christian Louboutin Heels (better for budget here)
1. Blazer, Oversized Scarf, & Brown Denim
The fastest way to transition your wardrobe to fall is to play with autumnal colors. I’m obsessing over all the chocolate browns and neutral color palettes right now. To get an early start on the trend, simply add a pair of brown jeans to your denim rotation.
GRLFRND Chunky Cardigan (sold out, similar here and here) | Topshop Gray Denim (sold out, similar here) | Similar Bodysuit | Gianvito Rossi Heels (better for budget here) | Saint Laurent Envelope Bag | Tom Ford Sunglasses (better for budget here)
2. Chunky Knit Cardigan, Bodysuit, & Skinny Jeans
I swear by this outfit combination every fall season because it allows you to extend the wear of your summer pieces – like bodysuits, camisoles, and tank tops. Plus, I can never pass up the cozy look of a chunky knit cardigan.
Max Mara Teddy Bear Coat (wearing an S, better for budget here and here) | Blank Denim Faux Leather Pants (wearing a 24) | Chanel Bag (medium size) | Celine Edge Sunglasses (sold out, similar here and better for budget here) | Similar Black Booties
3. All Black With A Teddy Bear Coat
As we get deeper into the season and the temperatures start to take a turn, you can’t go wrong with wearing darker outfits. Going for an all black ensemble looks edgy yet cozy with a fuzzy teddy bear coat layered on top.
Revolve L’Academie Gray Sweater (wearing an XS) | Mango Gray Coat (better for budget here) | Topshop Black Denim (wearing a 25) | Revolve Raye Booties (similar here and here) | Gucci Marmont Velvet Bag | Givenchy Sunglasses
4. Monochromatic Gray Layers
I’ve always loved wearing gray throughout the colder seasons, but it’s going to be a major trend this year. So if you don’t already own a gray coat and sweater, this would be the time to grab them. I love how gray looks instantly elevated and sophisticated. Just remember to keep your outfit interesting by mixing in different tones, textures, and volume.
Free People Chunky Knit Sweater (sold out, similar here and here) | By The Way Faux Leather Skirt (wearing an XXS) | Gucci Velvet Bag | Christian Louboutin Heels (better for budget here) | Saint Laurent Sunglasses
5. Pencil Skirt & Chunky Sweater
This look is super easy to recreate – and I’m sure you guys already own very similar pieces in your wardrobe. All you need is a a chunky knit top and a sleek pencil skirt. The mix of contrasting proportions looks flattering on anyone.
Burberry Trench (wearing a US 0, better for budget here) | Similar Gray Sweater Dress | Stuart Weitzman Over-The-Knee Boots (on sale here, better for budget here) | Givenchy Antigona Bag | Saint Laurent Sunglasses
6. Trench Coat, Tunic Sweater, & Over-The-Knee Boots
A tunic sweater and over-the-knee boots is feminine and classy, especially with a trench coat thrown over the shoulders. I just found these Stuart Weitzman boots on sale – they’re perfect for recreating the look above.
Louis Vuitton Shawl (also here, better for budget here and here) | Revolve Lovers + Friends Sweater Dress (wearing an XXS, similar here and here) | Christian Louboutin White Heels (similar here, better for budget here) | Givenchy Sunglasses | Chanel Bag
7. Shawl Scarf, Sweater Dress, & Heels
If it’s too hot for outerwear where you’re living, but you still want to try some stylish fall outfit ideas, this one is perfect. It combines a sweater dress with high heels and a lightweight shawl scarf. It’s such a great day-to-night look.
BCBG Blazer (sold out, similar here and here) | Gucci Belt (wearing a size 70 – read my “Gucci Belt Sizing Guide” HERE) | Blank Denim Faux Leather Pants (wearing a 24 – runs TTS, also love these) | Gucci Velvet Bag | Christian Louboutin Heels (better for budget here) | Saint Laurent Sunglasses
8. Belted Blazer, Faux Leather Pants, & Classic Pumps
I’m always looking for versatile pairings that can be worn at work or in the evening. This one is a favorite because because it’s polished but still sexy. You just need to take your favorite blazer and belt it at the waist over some leather pants. Finish off the look with classic pumps and you’re all set.
Similar Leather Jacket (better for budget here) | Equipment Shirt | Blank Denim Pants | Chanel Bag | Celine Edge Sunglasses (sold out, similar here and better for budget here) | Christian Louboutin White Heels (similar here, better for budget here)
9. Leather Jacket, Button-Down Top & Leather Pants
September is basically leather season for me, and one of my wardrobe must-haves is the moto jacket. I just love how it looks over a silk button-down blouse, but the different pairings you can come up with are practically endless.
Topshop Biker Jacket (sold out, similar here and here) | Free People Sweater (wearing an XS, also love this one) | Blank Denim Faux Leather Pants (wearing a 24) | Louis Vuitton Palm Springs Mini | Saint Laurent Sunglasses (better for budget here) | Chanel Combat Boots (better for budget here)
10. Shearling Biker Jacket, Leather Pants & Combat Boots
Finally, every girl needs a pair of combat boots this fall. I often experiment with that edgy, grunge aesthetic by pairing my combat boots with leather pants, a slouchy sweater, and faux fur biker jacket. I can’t wait to re-wear this look again.
