5 Edgy Pieces I Buy Every Fall Season

If there’s a certain style I can never get enough of, it’s probably an edgy outfit. I love mixing edgier pieces, like rugged booties, with more classic pieces like denim and basic sweaters for the ultimate cool-girl look. The combination of the two always feels effortless yet chic. If needed, there are so many ways to elevate them for a night out too. I always find the perfect mix of both styles from Nordstrom. They have so many great fall staples from coats to boots – there really is something for everyone and every occasion. Today, I wanted to share the edgy pieces I always keep in rotation during fall and winter.
Biker Details
Whether it’s a moto jacket or leather leggings, I’m a sucker for biker details. Think oversized zippers, buckles, and lots of hardware. They’re the best way to inject some toughness to an outfit. This Topshop jacket was one of my favorite pieces from last year and I’m so glad they brought it back so I could also grab it in the cream color.
Basic Tops
When it comes to adding some edge to your daily looks, you’ll need some strong foundational pieces. I love bodysuits, basic sweaters and tees – but I’m always on the hunt for details that are anything but basic. Padded shoulder tees, like this one, are so unique and trendy this season. They’re great for adding a more masculine vibe to your look.
Combat Boots
It’s safe to say that combat boots are one of my favorite shoe trends this fall. Nordstrom has some of the best options for under $200 right now. I just picked up these Sam Edelman combat boots and love the sleek look along with the ribbed knit insets that make the fit just right. I’ll sometimes swap my combat boots for worn-in sneakers when I want to be more comfortable but also toughen up my cozier pieces.
Denim
Denim is another foundational piece that you’ll need for a cool, edgy look. Darker washes and distressed details will amp up the street style vibe. However, white denim works too, especially if you’re pairing it with a leather jacket and combat boots like I did. I’m always a huge fan of the denim selection at Nordstrom because they have a huge range to shop from for any budget.
Oversized Coat
The weather is already getting so cold here in Minnesota, so I usually need something more than a biker jacket. Menswear-inspired coats always make the best layering piece because they look effortless and undone. Plus, they’re incredibly easy to layer over chunkier knits and even a leather jacket.
