What to Pack For a Ski Trip

mia mia mine wearing a topshop ski suit from nordstromPacking is never an easy feat, but when you throw in the hassle of bulky winter coats, snow boots, and ski gear, the challenge gets that much harder. There’s definitely an art to packing for a ski trip – or any winter vacation. If you’re not careful, you can easily end up overloading your suitcases and paying hefty fines for going above the airline weight limits. I had to do so much culling on my recent trip to Jackson Hole, WY, and finally narrowed down my winter vacation essentials to just 10 pieces. From affordable ski suits to chic apr├Ęs ski looks, here’s what to pack for a ski trip.

1. Ski Jacket

The sub zero temperatures at any ski resort are no joke. You won’t want to be without at least one ski jacket that is insulated and guaranteed to keep you warm in the coldest conditions.

2. Ski Suit or Pants

I don’t go too crazy on ski attire since I typically go skiing once or twice a year. I find that one ski suit or a pair of ski pants are sufficient to get me through the slopes during my time. You can find great affordable options at Asos, but for the next step up, I’m a huge fan of Sweaty Betty.

3. Ski Accessories

A great quality beanie, ski goggles, and heavy duty gloves will go a long way on any ski trip. I bought these Zionor ski goggles last year and found them to be impressive for being just under $30. They don’t fog up – and they offer great visibility.

4. Snow Boots

Shoes are always the hardest for me to pack since I want to bring just about everything in my closet. However, in reality, you just need two to three pairs for a ski trip. I recommend going with some true snow boots (for the slopes), slip-resistant combat boots, and sneakers.

5. Winter Coat

Since you won’t be on the slopes all the time, you’ll also want a stylish but warm coat that you can wear when you’re grabbing dinner or exploring town. I basically live in my teddy bear coats on any winter trip.

6. Warm Layering Tops

A variety of layering tops will ensure you stay warm no matter where you’re headed. I usually bring a mix of bodysuits, thermal tops, and hoodies. These are all pieces that work on and off the slopes.

7. Cozy Lounge Sets

When I’m back in the cabin and cozying up by the fire, there’s nothing better than a loungewear set. This is also my uniform of choice when I’m in flight.

8. Jeans & Leggings

You’ll find me in either jeans or leggings when I’m not skiing. Dresses are just too unrealistic – even if you’re wearing tights. With just three to four pairs, you can create endless outfits.

9. Apres Ski Style

Since I love dressing for winter, I always make sure to bring a few different sweaters and trendier pieces that I can wear to dinner or to relax in during the day. I love anything from cashmere sweaters to cutout knitwear and, of course, shackets.

10. Winter Accessories

The temperatures can be colder than expected, so you always want to be prepared with accessories. I always make sure to pack a few beanies, gloves, and scarves. Don’t forget your sunglasses too because the snow can be blinding.

xo, Maria
