What to Pack for a Beach Trip

It feels like forever since I went on a beach vacation – and it’s definitely at the top of my to-do list for 2021. The bright-shining sun and breezy weather make beaches one of the top vacation spots to unwind. Given the current state of the world, I’m sure we can all use a little more of that. So, I wanted to share my beach packing list with you today. Packing for the beach is pretty straight forward for the most part. However, you’ll probably want to update your suitcase with cute pieces that feel fresh for 2021. Whether you plan to jet off to an exotic location or want to spend a weekend at your local beach, this list is all you need.

Beach Wear…
The beach just wouldn’t be the same without a few cute swimsuits and cover-ups. When it comes to swimwear, I’m loving minimal designs, nude color palettes, and high-waisted bikini bottoms. I find these styles to be the most flattering and timeless. For cover-ups, I’m obsessed with sheer and mesh styles. They’re so sexy without feeling over the top.

Majorelle Floral Top (almost sold out, similar here) | Levi’s Denim (also love here one) | Similar Madewell Sandals (exact sold out) | Cult Gaia Bag
Tops…
It’s unlikely that you’ll spend all of your time on the beach. That’s why you’ll need a few tops to rotate between. It’s always a good idea to pack a mix of dressy blouses and basic tees. Both are great for wearing with denim cutoffs, casual pants, or even on top of your bikini.
Tularosa Polka Dot Dress (sold out, similar here) | Castañer Wedges (better for budget here) | Bottega Veneta The Pouch (in Mist color) | Rag & Bone Hat (better for budget here)
Dresses…
I love dresses, but I don’t always have a good reason to wear them. That’s why I love packing them for a beach trip. A flowy maxi dress is my favorite option to explore a new city – or to wear around the hotel. However, I always like to pack some dressier ones for a nice dinner too.

Bottoms…
I can’t live without comfortable, lightweight pieces at the beach. That’s usually a mix of joggers, knit pants, and shorts for me. You just never know if it’s going to be too hot and stuffy or chilly – so it’s better to be prepared. Denim cutoffs and paper-bag waist shorts are my ultimate favorites! They’re so versatile and can be matched up with everything else on this list.

Accessories…
Accessories are so important for beach trips. I always pack a straw hat to help protect me from the sun and a cute straw tote to hold my beach essentials – like books, sunscreen, and snacks. Flat shoes are also a must for wearing on and off the beach. Slide sandals are the easiest thing to slip into, but lace-up flats are a chic alternative.
