Now that we’re getting into the swing of summer, I wanted to share some of my tips on where to invest in your summer wardrobe. Although my style during the warmer months tends to be more laidback, consisting of easy and affordable basics, I do invest in some designer pieces to tie everything together. I just love the idea of having go-to pieces I can throw on immediately year after year when summer doesn’t last very long here in Minnesota. Lately, I find myself shopping at Neiman Marcus more and more for my designer splurges. They tend to have a better in-stock selection and competitive pricing (especially with their Gift Card events), which make the shopping experience so much more seamless. I love being able to get my hands on my favorite designer brands instantly – and I’ve been having better luck at Neiman Marcus with that. Ahead, I wanted to share some of my recent designer finds and what I’m loving lately.
While I rarely splurge on clothes when the weather is warm, every summer demands a little white dress. It’s one of those items that you can wear again every year, taking you from vacations to weekends and date nights to special occasions (think baby showers, graduations and more). Neiman Marcus always has such a beautiful collection of dresses – and their LWD selection is no different. I’m a sucker for anything with lace and ruffles – so when I found this Farm Rio dress, knew I had to have it. The ornate details are so pretty – and I find that they look better when you spend a little more.
It’s no secret that designer handbags are where the bulk of my fashion budget goes. I can’t emphasize enough how much they elevate anything and make an outfit look more expensive. Neiman Marcus has always been one of my go-to retailers for designer handbags because they carry the most relevant designers of the moment. In fact, you can find all my must-have summer bags there right now from the Bottega Veneta Chain Cassette Shoulder Bag to any of the Saint Laurent woven bags.
In previous years, I mainly splurged on espadrilles, sneakers (usually Golden Goose), and the occasional pump – but I’ve recently branched out into designer sandals and often wonder why I didn’t bite the bullet sooner. Well-made shoes last longer and feel better across the board, which means you can buy them now and wear them for years to come. These super cute sandals have been on my wish list forever, and I finally caved in when I tried them on. The little studs take an outfit up a notch whether you’re wearing jeans or a dress.
Another one of my designer weaknesses is sunglasses! They’re just so easy to incorporate into a summer outfit for a high impact look. You don’t even have to accessorize much, and sunglasses will make an iconic, stand alone accessory. My favorite sunglass brands are Saint Laurent and Celine, although I’ve also become obsessed with these Bottega Veneta aviators.
Summer just wouldn’t be the same without a perfect pair of jeans. Although denim trends come and go, I recommend going with styles that fit your body best, that way you’ll be able to rock them year after year. For me, high-waisted, straight leg designs are the most timeless even with a little distressing. You can grab all my favorite brands at Neiman Marcus, including Moussy, Frame, Agolde, and more.
