I live for long weekends and quick getaways in the summer. They’re such a great way to break up the usual routine and make for a great change of background when you from home like I do. Although the lines are often blurred between vacation and work when I’m traveling, I always make an effort to stray from structured plans for at least part of my trips. I’m all about getting dressed up and going out to do something fun, so my luggage is filled with a mix of easy basics and bold, vacation pieces. If you’re in need of some stress-free outfits for your next weekend getaway, I’m sharing the clothing items I always pack below! When I need to do a little shopping for any trip, I always find the best of summer essentials and resort wear at Saks OFF 5TH. I just love that they’re filled with designer finds for less and if you shop now, you can catch their Summer Clearance event happening from July 8 – July 31 for even bigger savings.
Breezy Bottoms
Shorts and pants with a tie-waist detail are my go-to for casual wear when I’m spending long days in a new city or small town. They’re not just a practical option, especially if you opt for a linen pair, but they always pull an outfit together. I love how you can easily switch up the look of these shorts with swap of a blouse.
Swimwear
When relaxing oceanside, near a lake, or even at a hotel with a pool, you don’t want to be without a swimsuit. Bikini sets are great, but one-pieces will give you the most bang for your buck since they can double up as a bodysuit when you’re out exploring.
Resort Dress
One of the best parts about going on short getaways is breaking away from your usual uniform and throwing on a pretty dress. It always makes everything feel fancier. Saks OFF 5TH has some fun, frilly options that will keep you cool and stylish through a long weekend.
Basics Tops
The basic tops I’m obsessed with right now are ribbed tanks and linen button-ups. I’ve been really into one-shoulder tank tops for a modern, minimalist look. This one can be tucked into anything and looks so chic. Linen shirts go without saying because they’re insanely versatile. You can wear them as a swimsuit cover up or over a dress for an easy vacation look.
Accessories
Accessories put the fun in summer getaways whether it’s strappy sandals (I just got these and just added these to my cart), a bucket bag, or a straw hat. I typically go for more practical bags, like this quilted one, that can transition from day to night – but will inject a summer flair into my look with a straw hat. The one I’m wearing here goes with any outfit. I love the fact that beyond style, straw hats provide extra sun protection. If you’re worried about squishing it inside your suitcase, you can always wear it as a part of your travel look.
