Fresh Day to Night Style Tips That Require No Effort

With summer winding down to an end, it’s a good idea to make the most of the weather and get out more whether that’s going on a quick vacation or planning more date nights. Either way, doing so requires mastering day to night dressing. This can be particularly tricky when you want to be casual and comfortable in the day time but sultry and sexy once the sun goes down. With just a few tweaks though, you can easily nail down your day to night style. I wanted to share some of the tips I always fall back on for doing just that. My tips focus on fresh ideas that make a big impact and stray far from your basic style hacks.

1. Undo A Few Buttons
Shirt dresses and button-down tops are some of the most versatile pieces you can own because they work for virtually any situation. Plus, you can style them in infinite ways! During the day, you can keep the buttons done up to the top. Come nighttime, loosen up a few to show a little more skin.

2. Try A Jumpsuit
I’m a huge fan of one-and-done pieces – especially a jumpsuit. Pick the right fabric and silhouette and you have something that’s elevated enough for a night on the town. During the day, you can tone down the dressy vibes by pairing it with a blazer for the office or keep it casual with a cardigan.

3. Peel Off Some Layers
Fashion experts often recommend losing your jacket when it comes to day to night style tips. However, if you’re up for something off-beat, consider losing the bottom layer. I especially love this look with a sharp blazer as seen above. If you’re worried about “accidents” happening, you can always use fashion tape to ensure the collars don’t shift too much.

4. Add A Moto Jacket
Once the chill sets in, there’s really only one jacket style that’s perfectly suitable for date night style – a moto jacket. It’s edgy, unexpected, and ultimately cool. I love pairing it with distressed jeans, dresses, and camisoles.

5. Dress Down A Skirt Or Dress With A Button-Up Top
Ornate and feminine dresses or skirts always make great outfits for a night out. To style it during the day, all you need is a button down top. I often tie mine at the waist to help temper the dressy vibes.

6. Reveal A Hint Of Lace
Showcasing a small amount of lace can do wonders for your look. I love wearing lace bralettes and camisoles underneath button-down shirts, cardigans, and even basic tees. I’ll find a way to reveal it just enough for a night out whether that means pulling a top off the shoulder or undoing a few extra buttons.

7. Go For Sheer Details
Sheer clothing continues to be on the rise – and it’s one of the easiest ways to take your outfit from day to night. A blouse with sheer sleeves or dress with sheer paneling can be styled with more modest pieces to look appropriate during the day.
