Lately, I’ve been rounding up so many of my favorite fall trends and staples that I feel are absolutely necessary. However, I thought I’d pull together this quick guide for those of you who might want a recap of just 10 items that will make a big impact in your wardrobe. We all know that certain trends come and go, so it’s important to hone in on those with strong staying power. Below, you’ll find the pieces that are worth investing in as well as their more affordable counter parts – both are sure keep your wardrobe looking as fresh as ever this fall.
Halogen Brown Coat | Karen Kane Brown Sweater | Spanx Croc-Embossed Leggings | Saint Laurent Lou Tweed Bag | AllSaints Combat Boots
1. Brown Coat
By now, the only outer layer that might be missing from your wardrobe is the chocolate brown coat. It’s offers such a nice change of pace from the classic camel and gray tones. I also love that it’s a low-committal way to lean into this trendy color.
Anine Bing Houndstooth Blazer (also here) | Commando Bodysuit | Commando Patent Leather Leggings | Saint Laurent Sunglasses (similar here) | Similar Chanel 19 Shearling Bag (better for budget here)
2. Houndstooth Blazer
If it isn’t obvious by now, I can’t get enough of the houndstooth blazer! I’ve purchased both options linked below and have kept them on heavy rotation. The Anine Bing blazer is great because it doubles up as a coat while the Express one gives me major Balmain vibes.
Halogen Brown Coat | Treasure & Bond Hoodie | Commando Faux Leather Leggings | Marc Fisher Lug Sole Boots | Louis Vuitton Palm Springs Mini Backpack
3. Lug Sole Chelsea Boots
It’s no secret that lug sole boots are taking over fall. If you already have a strong collection of combat boots, then it’s a good time to consider the chelsea boot. This utilitarian staple goes great with dresses, leggings or your favorite jeans.
White House Black Market Top | White House Black Market Coated Jeans | White House Black Market Necklace | Alexandre Birman White Heels | Bottega Veneta Chain Cassette Shoulder Bag
4. Quilted Handbag
The quilted bag trend is another style that’s still going strong, all thanks to Bottega Veneta. It’s a great piece to invest in if you own plenty of classic bags and want to spice things up for fall.
Amazon White Corset (under $30) | Agolde Straight Leg Jeans (better for budget here) | Saint Laurent Sunset Bag | Celine Sunglasses (exact style sold out, similar here and better for budget here) | Chanel Earrings
5. Relaxed Denim
Perhaps the most affordable way to look updated this season is to change up your denim silhouette. Whether you go for a vintage straight or baggy leg, you’ll look effortlessly cool.
Forever 21 Shacket (also love this one) | Forever 21 Knit Tank Top | Similar Denim | Saint Laurent Sunset Bag
6. Leather Shacket
You probably own several plaid shackets by now, but with the leather trend reigning suprme, it’s a good time to throw a faux (or real) iteration into the mix. Style it with biker shorts now and then layer it with split hem pants leggings later.
Marc Jacobs Camel Coat | Joie Faux Leather Joggers | Marc Jacobs Handbag (Use code MIAMIAMINE for 40% off your first two months)
7. Faux Leather Joggers
I have lots of leather on this list – and that’s because it’s one of the trends that will define the season. Now’s the time to pass on more biker jackets and leather leggings, and dip into faux leather joggers. I’ve been styling mine with heels for an elevated look.
Amazon Sweater Dress (under $40! wearing an XXS) | Balmain Blazer (wearing an FR34 – read my Balmain review HERE, better for budget here) | Similar Croc Embossed Boots | Givenchy Sunglasses | Chanel Bag
8. Structured Knee-High Boots
Structured knee high boots are a smart investment because they’ll always have a place in your wardrobe as soon as temperatures dip. They’re a match made in heaven with midi-length skirts and dresses but also look killer over jeans and leggings.
Express Coat Vest | Free People Tunic Sweater | Stuart Weitzman Over-The-Knee Boots | Saint Laurent Solferino Bag | Fendi Sunglasses
9. Sweater Vest
Vests are a trend that continue to grow and one that I’m really intrigued with is the knitted vest. I can see myself wearing one over a shirt dress and cinching it at the waist. You can also style it as a tunic over leggings for an easy chic look.
Sofia Jeans Cardigan | Sofia Jeans Tank Top (wore mine tucked in) | Similar White Joggers | Walmart Cross Band Slippers
CB2 Boucle Chairs
10. Shearling Slides
Fashion is always exciting when it merges the best of style and comfort. For me, shearling slides are the epitome of that. Not only are they cushy and comfortable, but they’re easy to slip on when you’re in a rush.
