5 Versatile Trends That Upgrade Your Wardrobe

I’ve been eyeing those that will make the most impact in my wardrobe. For instance, cozy textures, forward basics and boots that look as good dressed up as they do dressed down. Currently, I find that no retailer has quite the offering of versatile trends like Nordstrom. Its “New Arrivals” is packed with enduring fall and winter pieces that’ll upgrade your wardrobe. Today, I wanted to share a small edit of those trends that belong at the top of your shopping list.

1. Sherpa Outerwear

No outerwear style matches the current season like a faux shearling or sherpa coat fix. For me, the ultimate combination is cozy with a hint of edge – and nothing embraces that like the Free People shearling biker jacket I’m wearing. It keeps you feeling as good as you look for any autumn activity. The best part about the sherpa outerwear trend is that you can throw one on without a second thought and upgrade an outfit.

2. Slouchy Boots

It’s pretty much a guarantee that there will be some cool new boot trend each year. One of the newer styles this season brings is the slouch boot. I love an over-the-knee silhouette that lengthens your look instantly. This one is unique in that it features a slightly looser shaft so you can create that scrunch effect. There are plenty of other trendy boots, but I don’t think any of them channel that casual yet smart vibe like this one.

3. Modern Tees

When it comes to fashion, I’m a big believer that less is sometimes more, and that’s why I’m such a sucker for casual tees. They never fail to look amazing with denim. Nordstrom carries some of the best styles the season has to offer from one-shoulder necklines to henley bodysuits to cutout tops. I linked some of my favorites that you can wear under your favorite coats and jackets for the next few months.

4. Structured Crossbody Bags

It’s fair to say that no look would be complete without a great bag to grace your arm. There are an endless amount of bags trending hard this fall, so you might be wondering where to start your shopping. One that I absolutely cannot live without is a structured crossbody bag. No matter what your budget is, Nordstrom has you covered across the board. This Saint Laurent one is my top pick – it’s the perfect place to store your phone, cards and keys when on the go. Plus, it gives you the ability to go hands-free when it’s frigid outside without excess weight.

5. Quilted Outerwear

I always do my best to stick to versatile trends that I can stretch the most. That usually means a special coat I’ll wear throughout the season over a party dress that I’ll only wear once or twice. The quilted jacket is one that every girl will reach for on the regular. Look for diamond quilts or hourglasses shapes that feel a bit dressier than the usual zip-up puffer. You can even cinch it at the waist for a hint of polish.
