It’s the official last day of the year, and I’m closing it out with some of my favorite outfits from December. It’s always the busiest month for me as I wrap up projects for the year and join in on holiday celebrations. Most of the looks I pulled together were centered around that. Looking back now, I don’t think I’ve ever worn so much red. It’s actually a fresh reminder to inject a little more color into my wardrobe. I also tend to wear dressier, celebratory pieces in the days leading up to Christmas, and will revert back to casual layers once it’s all over. These next few weeks, things will be a little more quiet as I prep for my upcoming ski trip. I picked up a ton of new winter gear that I can’t wait to share with you all. Stay tuned for more on that, and in the meantime, you can can keep reading to see some highlights of the month!
1. Holiday Spirit
Wearing red always gets me into the holiday spirit. One of the looks I always fall back on is a red sweater dress with coordinating accessories and over-the-knee boots. It never gets old!
2. Luxe Holiday Faves
I’m not one to always give into trends, but one of the party looks I’ve been obsessed with this season is feathers! This off-the-shoulder top is such a fun statement piece. The nude color makes it that much better because I’ll be able to style it into going-out and date-night looks.
3. Winter Suiting
With winters as brutal as they are in the Midwest, one of the emerging trends I can get behind is the catsuit. Nordstrom has so many great pieces by Naked Wardrobe right now – and they come in the most versatile colors. You can layer them under anything and everything to stay toasty.
4. Weekend Casual
This is the type of outfit that I can live in all winter long. The cozy sweatsuit is comfortable beyond belief while the pop of red shakes up the standard lounge vibes. It’s quite a bold look on its own and is best styled with neutral accessories, like these sneakers.
5. Casual Winter Style
Winter is also my favorite season to live in workout clothes. Some sneakers and a puffer jacket are all you need to look chic. I just got these from DSW and have been wearing them so much lately. I love the classic look and the under $50 price tag just can’t be beat.
6. Holiday Mood
You guys are always asking me about chic workwear, and one of the brands I wish I’d known about in my corporate years is Karen Millen. The brand is just full of feminine pieces that work for the office and evenings. It’s a higher end brand but full of amazing quality – and will last for years.
7. Cozy Winter
For me, this outfit is the definition of cozy chic. The shearling moto jacket over the knit dress will take you from day to night in a pinch. I paired it with knee-high boots for an elevated look but I can also see myself styling it with combat boots.
8. NYE Style
Express is brimming with stunning holiday party pieces this season, and I definitely took advantage of them. Here’s one of the outfits I put together for New Year’s Eve.
9. Lady in Red
Here’s another Karen Millen look I put together this month. The coat is a true showstopper and makes anything look way more luxe. I paired it with this Michael Kors bag that I just got and actually really love! It’s super roomy, looks really polished and is a great work tote.
10. Winter Neutrals
When you’re at a loss for what to wear, a white shearling coat always comes to the rescue! There are so many great affordable ones that are still in stock right now.
