Transitional Pieces To Jumpstart Your Spring Wardrobe

My winter style tends to be edgier and polished while spring is more playful and casual. The in-between period right before the warm weather hits is the best time to merge the two aesthetics for an effortless look. The good news is that you don’t have to completely overhaul your entire wardrobe to transition into the new season. I find that it’s the little things, like a leather skirt or a cool jacket, that can make a world of difference. And that’s why I love shopping at Nordstrom. They always manage to keep their inventory updated, so you can score the latest trends before everyone else. And with such a comprehensive list of brands online and in stores, you can shop your favorites at any price point. Here are the pieces that’ll ease you into the new season.

Long Skirt

I love mixing classic pieces with of-the-moment trends, and one of the trendier pieces I’m most excited for is the long skirt. Whether you opt for a floor-sweeping style or a longer midi cut, it’s proving to be investment worthy as it’s seasonless and works in just about any temperature. I’ve been gravitating towards figure-hugging silhouettes like this one for a modern look.

Neutral Leather

It’s safe to say that I love wearing leather throughout the year but especially in the spring and fall. This season, I’m especially obsessed with leather in lighter tones, like camel, ecru or chocolate brown. It’ll make your spring looks feel instantly updated. If you’re feeling a little brave, you can even try a leather on leather look.

Shearling Jacket

In an ideal world, spring dressing would be about breezy dresses, sandals and a light jacket to keep you comfortable. But when you live in Minnesota, spring can be polarizing with frigid temps sticking around longer than you’d like. My outerwear of choice to keep up with the weather is of course a shearling jacket. That usually starts off as a blanket-like teddy bear coat but will eventually end with a light fleece jacket. Nordstrom has a variety that can help you survive any climate.

Lightweight Knits

I’m all about buying versatile pieces that I can wear now and later. Lightweight knits are easily my go-to piece since they’re ideal for layering or wearing alone – just perfect for when the day starts off freezing but warms up by noon. You can pair them with work trousers or denim. Either way, they’ll keep you comfortable and chic.
