Essential Basics That Make It Easy To Go From Summer To Fall

It can be tricky when there’s still another month and a half of summer to go. But my solution is to scope out easy basics that can work for the late-summer timeframe as well as early fall. Knowing where to shop also helps because the best retailers are ahead of the game – already releasing new styles that are on point for the two seasons. You girls know well that Nordstrom is that place for me. They’re pretty much foolproof if you’re shopping for pieces that can pass through summer and fall. I’ve kept a pulse on their New Arrivals these past few weeks and found myself adding so many styles to my wish list. Their selection of the latest trends, classic pieces with a twist and broad price points are just too good to ignore. Scroll on for my latest style picks.

Blazers

It’s safe to say that blazers will never go out of style. They’re not only multi-purpose but can be styled for any season. It also happens to be that the classic cut is poised to be one of fall’s biggest trends. I got this one from Nordstrom earlier in the year and have gotten so much mileage from it. I’ll continue style it over the next few months with knitwear and leather.

Bodycon Pieces

You can never go wrong with bodycon pieces whether it’s the trendy onesie every fashion girl is wearing or a simple bodysuit. While it’s still super hot outside, take your pick and style it alone with comfy sandals. Then come early fall, throw cozy textures into the mix. I know this Naked Wardrobe bodysuit will see me through the colder months. It’s the perfect foundation for any outfit you might come up with.

Non-Denim Pants

Jeans have always been an integral part of my wardrobe. However, I’ve been switching them up for non-denim options. They’re not only comfier but feel effortlessly polished for everyday. Nordstrom has a myriad of styles you can pick from. Some of my top picks this season are, of course, faux leather pants, coated jeans, wide leg trousers and split hem pants.

Knit Separates

Whether it’s scorching hot or freezing cold, I think it’s safe to say that there’s nothing better than living in a sumptuous, cozy knit set. The trend has been going strong for quite some time now – and will continue to take the cake this fall and winter. A comfy two-piece (here and here) will keep you trend-right for the remainder of summer. However, you can add boots and an edgy coat to make it seasonally appropriate later.

Square Toe Shoes

If you’re one to embrace strappy heels no matter the season, consider taking them in a square-toe cut. The defined edge never fails to catch the eye and make a subtle statement. I also love the minimal vibe it exudes. If you’re looking to update your shoe line-up with fall-ready options you can wear now, then consider adding a square-toe loafer or ankle boot to the mix.
