Getting dressed for work in a way that spotlights your personal style can be tricky. Not only do you have to account for the commute, outside temperatures, and your mood, but your outfit has to meet a certain dress code. The good news is that it’s finally fall – and that means there are plenty of new styles that you can stock up on to create a stylish workwear capsule wardrobe. Whether you work in a casual setting or a corporate office, the new season brings a myriad of pieces that meet the benchmark for professionalism. The best part is that they also look chic after hours. Some of my personal favorites include modern suiting, smart leather silhouettes, and statement boots. If you’re not sure what’ll work for you, scroll on for all the office-approved outfit inspiration you need.

Suit Sets
From pant suits to skirt sets, power suits are quickly becoming a fashion girl essential all over the world. This season’s blazer options are impressive as you can take your pick of an oversized cut, cropped fit or even an hourglass shape. To style this trend for everyday, pair your suit with a casual turtleneck top or a basic tee – this takes the professional vibes down a notch.

Midi Skirts
My love for midi skirts run deep, especially a form-fitting midi length with a thigh slit. It’s the most flattering style for petite women in my opinion. Lucky for us, skirts are trendier than ever this fall! I’ll be soaking up every opportunity to wear a midi skirt with a chunky knit sweater.

Ponchos & Capes
Ponchos and capes have been under the radar for a few years now, but they’re quickly gaining steam as temperatures drop. I’ve spotted them on A-listers, like Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively and more. They happen to pair extremely well with everything we own, especially workwear. Layer them on top of any pant style and you’re all set.

Knee-High Boots
If your office style involves a lot of midi skirts and skinny pants, structured knee-high boots are the best way to up the ante. I’m obviously a fan because you’ll be able to take this footwear beyond the work week.

Pants
As cold as it gets in Minnesota, having a good variety of pants to get me through the colder months is key. Consider swapping your traditional work pants for intriguing styles, such as a cropped flare jean, split hem flares or relaxed leather pants.

Sweaters & Knit Tops
I prefer to stick to the basics for tops and blouses in the fall. Statement sweaters as well as minimal, neutral knit tops are fail-proof. They go well with any bottom and can be worn any day of the week.

Long Coat
Layering will become crucial at some point, and my ultimate must-have here has to be a long coat. Whether you opt for a robe coat, longline puffer or oversized piece, you can trust that it’ll look immaculate over suits, skirts, dresses and pants of any kind.

Dresses
Lastly, you’ll want to have a few dresses on hand for days when you’re not in the mood to piece an entire look together. I’m personally loving faux leather dresses, shirt dresses for easy layering and, of course, knit dresses for maximum comfort (and style).
