Easy Thanksgiving Outfits For Whatever You Have Planned

It’s crazy to me that the holiday season is already here! Thanksgiving always comes and goes so quickly, so it’s a good idea to plan your outfits early. I wanted to share some of my favorite looks for the big celebration earlier than normal this year since holiday orders can get delayed and my favorite pieces seem to sell out faster than ever. So far, I’ve been able to find all of my go-to pieces from fall knitwear to sweater dresses to easy layers at Nordstrom. Their fall collection is brimming with elevated pieces that we can all feel and look good in. And the best part is that you can quickly find everything you need for the perfect festive fit. Since Thanksgiving celebrations can range from a mid-afternoon lunch to a late dinner, I rounded up options that would fit any dress code from super laidback to formal. No matter what your plans are, there’s a chic outfit to pair with it. Scroll ahead for the ones you’ll actually want to wear.
Monochromatic Moment
One of my favorite style hacks for amping up any look for the holidays is going monochrome. I love that wearing a single color is instantly classy, timeless and fashionable all at the same time. I tend to fall back on beige and ivory tones because they feel unexpected yet refreshing. If you plan on recreating this look, you’ll love the Free People blazer. It feels like coat and makes for a no-fuss layer. I also highly recommend this ribbed top – it looks designer but is super affordable.
Classic & Cozy
You can never go wrong with a sweater dress for any fall or winter occasion. Opt for a relaxed, tunic-style cut that’s more forgiving on the body in case you want to indulge. Then, complement the loose fit with leg-lengthening over-the-knee boots. These Jeffrey Campbell OTK boots are one of my favorite finds of the season so far. I now have them in both white and brown and love how they give the illusion of mile-long legs.
Something Velvet
If you prefer to dress up – or if your family celebrates with a formal dinner, consider something velvet. It can be as simple as a velvet blazer with your favorite jeans or as luxe as a beautiful dress. The statement effect of velvet means minimal styling effort, so you can focus more on enjoying the day. I find that drop earrings and pumps usually do the trick.
Autumn Colors
Thanksgiving is all about family time and great food, so I don’t blame you if you prefer a casual, low-key look. Fortunately, it’s super easy to elevate a pair of jeans, leggings or joggers. Just add a pop of autumnal hues. Rust and brown tones are my favorite right now – and Nordstrom has so many styles that would be perfect for the holiday. I linked my favorites below.
Leather Weather
For a sophisticated outfit that doesn’t look overly dressy, I recommend embracing leather. The texture play never fails to impress – especially when worn with plush knits. Below, you’ll find plenty of new iterations worth incorporating into your Thanksgiving outfit from chic trousers to modern midi skirts and edgy blazers.
