My Honest Review of the Gucci Giglio Bag

mia mia mine wearing the gucci giglio handbag in size mediumI’ve been carrying the Gucci Giglio nonstop lately, and I’ve gotten so many questions that it felt like the right time to break it all down. This quietly became one of the most wanted bags of 2025 – and the thing that caught my eye was its classic but current design. If you know me, you know I don’t rush into handbag trends. I like to take my time, see how something holds up, and make sure it’s a piece I’ll actually use. This one passed every test.

I went with the small size in the GG canvas — a fabric I’ve loved for years and always find myself coming back to. The coated canvas is a huge win for me because it’s lightweight and has proven to be enduring both visually and physically. Below, I’m answering the most common questions I’ve gotten and sharing exactly why this bag has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

What Size Do I Have and Is It Practical?

The Gucci Giglio comes in two sizes, small and large. I went with the small, which measures 9.8″W x 7.9″H x 5.9″D and it’s the one I’d recommend to everyone. It holds your daily essentials, including a wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses, snacks for toddlers, even a diaper and wipes in a pinch. It also comes with a detachable strap and pouch inside, which is great for loose items like receipts or lip gloss. The closure is a single magnetic snap, so it’s easy to get in and out of – something I appreciate even more these days as a busy mom. Between the size and how useful it is, it’s become my everyday bag for errands, brunch, travel  – basically everything.

Is It Comfortable to Carry?

Completely. It’s basically weightless, which is a huge plus. I’ve had plenty of structured bags that look great but end up being a pain to carry. This isn’t one of them. It’s unstructured with a soft, malleable feel, and you can wear it a few different ways: over the shoulder (with the strap), in the crook of your arm, or just carried by hand. The canvas is durable, and I never feel like I have to baby it. It’s honestly one of the few designer bags I feel comfortable hauling around with a toddler in tow.

Which Material Should You Choose?

The Giglio comes in leather, canvas, and denim. I chose the classic GG canvas because it felt like the most versatile long-term option. It has that iconic Gucci look but isn’t loud or flashy. It wears beautifully and wipes clean easily, which matters when you’re using it as much as I do. If you’re looking for something slightly more polished, the leather version is stunning – but I personally love the balance of practicality and heritage the canvas offers.

Is It Worth the Price?

This bag retails for $1850, so it’s not cheap by any means – but if you want a bag you’ll actually use (and not just stare at on a shelf) this is it. I’ve carried it more than any other handbag I own. It goes with everything and doesn’t feel precious or overly delicate. Plus, the fact that it’s this comfortable, durable, and roomy makes the price tag feel justified.

I used to be someone who bought bags that looked amazing but didn’t work for real life. Not anymore. This is one of the most functional designer bags I’ve bought, and it hasn’t sacrificed style to get there.

Would I Buy It Again?

Absolutely. I’d recommend the Giglio without hesitation, especially if you’re someone who wants their investment pieces to work hard. It’s true modern classic you’ll have on rotation for years.
