The Pieces I Wear Most In The Fall

When it comes to building your fall wardrobe, it’s always important to focus on the pieces you’ll get the most wear out of. While it can be enticing to scoop up every chunky knit and over-the-knee boot, it’s not necessary to go overboard to have a versatile fall wardrobe. You’ll often get the most mileage out of your wardrobe by investing in a few core styles that you can mix and match. I tend to invest in a few statement pieces that I can wear with multiple outfits and then I mix in more affordable everyday pieces like sweaters and scarves. Below I’m sharing the core pieces that I tend to wear most in the fall.

Statement Scarves

One of the easiest ways to pull together a fall look is with a statement scarf. This is one area you don’t have to invest a lot on since there are so many great affordable options from retailers like H&M and Asos. I do love to invest in Burberry scarves because they stand the test of time and instantly elevate an outfit, but a chunky knit scarf will give your fall outfit that cozy yet polished feel too.

Over-The-Knee Boots

When it comes to footwear, over-the-knee boots are my go-to. They are always one of the season’s best sellers and for good reason – they’re comfortable and chic. Over-the-knee boots are so versatile too. You can wear them with anything from denim to fall dresses. I love to pair them with a cozy sweater dress for the perfect fall outfit.

Chunky Sweaters

This is one area that it seems like you can never have too much of. I wear chunky sweaters almost every day in the fall. They’re so easy to throw on over a basic tee and denim and they keep you warm as the temps drop. For an ultra-cozy look, opt for an oversized fit and for added versatility go with a slightly longer tunic version that you can wear as a sweater dress too.

Camel Coats

Yesterday I talked about my favorite fall coats to splurge versus save on and one style that I both splurge and save on is a great camel coat. There are so many chic versions at all price points that you really can’t go wrong. I wear mine with everything from dresses to denim and even with sneakers on the weekends too. Camel coats are always one of the best-selling items for fall so if you see one you like be sure to scoop it up quickly!

Sweater Dresses

I probably get most excited to wear a sweater dress than anything else in the fall. Paired with over-the-knee boots, a sweater dress makes for the ultimate fall outfit. They’re a great way to transition to the cooler temps at the start of the season when heavy knits and denim feels too warm. Sweater dresses are a great solution for an easy date night outfit too.

Booties

For everyday wear, booties are often the most practical solution. As much as I love over-the-knee boots, booties are oftentimes the most comfortable option for more casual settings like running errands or heading outdoors for fall activities like visiting a pumpkin patch or apple orchard. I love that booties can be dressed up too when paired with a blazer or dress. I usually invest in one designer pair of booties that will take me through the season and then buy more affordable statement booties or basic booties that I can wear mix in or wear in more casual settings.
