People watching in New York is always pretty interesting, but during Fashion Week, attendees, burgeoning creatives, and aspiring bloggers alike take the street in their best and most creative, unique ensembles. Honestly, street style has often been my favorite part to scope out inspiration for what to wear next. Read on for some of the top NYFW street style trends and coolest looks.

Boilersuits

This still comes as a bit of a surprise to me, but NYFW this year has been unseasonably warm. Still, we see layers of funky scarfs, furry coats, various hats and cold-weather boots. Between all the layers and colors, one piece has come up repeatedly – and that is the boilersuit. The boilersuit is the utilitarian, sleeved take on the jumpsuit, and these are everywhere this year. I haven’t decided how I’ll pull this one off yet, but I’m sure the addition of heels and feminine pieces will soften up the tough look.

Animal Print

While leopard dresses and accessories have always been a staple, animal prints are back on every clothing type. I’ve seen outfits being rocked by not just one or two, but even three different prints or textures. While you don’t have to be that bold, it’s certainly easy to just pick an item or two pieces and embrace that wild side. Snakeskin boots especially show no signs of slowing down.

Plaid

Plaid was everywhere this week in loud and eccentric color pairings. It seems to be the statement print of the season that’s been updated with pastels and neon colors in checks of all sizes. From wide-leg pants, midi skirts, overcoats, and blouses to headbands, the fashion crowd is definitely going mad for plaid.

Wide Leg Pants

Polished flares, wider crops, and bell-bottoms in suit trousers and chinos are the pant of choice this season. We’re definitely seeing the fashion set opt for more of this tailored look when it comes to bottoms. I’m a huge fan since this comes off as workwear with an edge. If you’re going to do denim, street style would say go for something with a broader silhouette. Rather than the mom jean or skinnies of the previous years, try a wider leg.

Bright & Neutral Tones

Monochrome looks has always been a standout look in street style and this year is no different. Head-to-toe colored suits with a matching blouse or bag has been spotted in everything from pink to highlighter orange and spearmint green. At the same time, camel is taking the lead in bringing back neutrals. As an avid wearer of neutrals, this is probably one of the trends I’m most excited about.
