As you guys can tell, I’ve been waiting impatiently for warmer weather, which explains all the spring wardrobe inspo on the blog lately. But it stays pretty chilly in Minnesota even through the beginning of spring. So although I have my mind set on fun colors and prints, it’s more important to focus on practicality when getting dressed. As I’ve been culling through my wardrobe and putting outfits together for upcoming shoots, I realized that there are a few winter pieces I’ll probably keep around for the first half of the season. Today, I wanted to share those winter looks you can wear for spring before you pack everything away.
Balmain Blazer (better for budget here) | Gucci Belt (wearing a size 70 – read my ‘Gucci Belt Sizing Guide’ HERE) | Asos Dress | Gucci Tights | Givenchy Sunglasses | Chanel Bag | Revolve Heels
1. Dress and Tights
One of my favorite spring looks is a mini dress or skirt with pumps. And the only way to really pull that off now is with a pair of tights. This season, I’m skipping basic, solid-colored pantyhose and trying patterned tights. I’ve really been into the logomania trend imprinted on tights, such as the Gucci and Fendi ones. They’re such amazing tights to up your style game.
Rag & Bone Hat | Mango Coat | Commando Bodysuit | Asos Black Denim | Gianvito Rossi Heels | Saint Laurent College Bag
2. Neutral Layers
As I’m sure you guys know, I love a good monochrome outfit especially with a statement coat, so I’ll continue to wear variations of it throughout the season. My obsession has been the waterfall maxi coat from Pretty Little Thing, which is so affordable (just under $60!). There are so many great colors that are perfect for layering over an all white or all black outfit.
Balmain Blazer | Similar Sweater | Blank Denim Faux Leather Pants | Nike Cortez Sneakers | New Era NY Hat | Quay Sunglasses | Prada Cahier Bag
3. Jacket and Leather Pants
There’s nothing like a great pair of leather pants to dress up an outfit and keep you warm whether they’re faux or real. For the last few years, I’ve raved constantly about these faux leather pants, which I own several pairs of. They’re super warm and flattering so I’m tempted to throw them on every weekend.
VICI Dolls Sweater Dress (wearing an S/M – take 20% off with code “Maria20”) | Givenchy Antigona Bag | Givenchy Sunglasses | Stuart Weitzman Over-The-Knee Boots
4. Sweater Dress and Over the Knee Boots
A sweater dress paired with over the knee boots is one of my favorite looks ever because it never fails to look chic and is so easy to throw together. It works extremely well on a cold spring morning – and you can always trade the boots for sneakers or pumps if it gets too hot in the afternoon.
VICI White Bodysuit (wearing an S, save 20% with code “MARIA20”) | VICI Black Jeans (wearing a 1, save 20% with code “MARIA20”) | Prada Cahier Bag | VICI Necklace |
Quay Sunglasses | Golden Goose Leopard Sneakers (also love these)
5. Athleisure
I’m all about that effortless street style vibe and I think incorporating athleisure pieces makes it so easy to pull off. Whenever I want to take my outfit from basic to cool, I’ll throw on a pair of distressed sneakers, a baseball cap, or an oversized hoodie. I love how it gives off that effortless, model-off-duty vibe even if I’m wearing something so luxe like a Balmain blazer.
