fashion blogger mia mia mine wearing a white crop top from revolve for summer 2019Jeans are no doubt a staple part of my wardrobe. I own everything from skinnies to straight leg denim and dark wash to light washed options. I naturally gravitate towards denim because of their durability, ease of styling, and versatility. A classic pair of jeans are always appropriate for the most casual events but can also be dressed up for semi-formal occasions. All you need to do is adapt the rest of your outfit to fit in accordingly. That being said, I wanted to share 10 tips on how you can dress up your jeans!

1. Statement Top

There is just something so effective and timeless about pairing a statement blouse with a pair of jeans. I love wearing tops with feminine details such as puff sleeves, a cropped waist, and ruffles. Those small additions are a surefire way to dress up your average denim.

2. Lace, Silk, or Satin

If you want to dress up your jeans for a dressier occasion, pay attention to the types of fabrics you wear. For instance, cotton or chambray materials are often reserved for more casual occasions. However, satin, lace, or silk top can make your outfit look like a million bucks. For your next night out or event, try pairing an alluring cami with distressed jeans and heels.

3. Statement Heels

Never underestimate the power of a good pair of heels. Sometimes wearing the more fashion-forward styles is the way to go in order to jazz up an outfit. Plus, statement shoes are a way to bring in the current trends without committing to a full blown look. Try wearing your favorite jeans with animal printed shoes, neon heels, or strappy square-toed sandals.

4. Timeless Outerwear

Fall is honestly one of my favorite seasons because it means we can layer up! You guys already know I have an obsession with timeless outerwear like blazers. They’re the perfect addition to your favorite pair of jeans and will give it a more tailored look. You can polish up further by cinching it at the waist.

5. Monochrome

Whenever I want my jeans to look more luxe, I’ll opt for a neutral monochrome outfit. Layering pieces within the same color family always manages to make an outfit seem elegant and expensive even if it’s all high street. I love that it’s not too trendy, especially in lighter hues like white, gray, and cream.

6. Chain Wallet or Clutch

Oftentimes, the easiest way to elevate casual pieces like denim is with a chain wallet or clutch. Given its size, it’s the ideal piece for transitioning an outfit from work to happy hour on Fridays. You can also use a clutch to add a pop of color or print to your outfit.

7. Jewelry

You can always throw on a pair of heels or add the perfect handbag to dress up your jeans, but layered necklaces take it to another level. Lately, I’ve been loving gold chain necklaces and layered coin necklaces. It’s a quick fix for drawing attention away from casual pieces like denim.

8. Button Down Top

You can make distressed jeans look upscale with a classic button down top. I’m often pairing mine with denim cutoffs for a polished look. Take it a step further by adding classic pumps and a mini handbag.

9. Belt

An effortless way to spice up your average pair of jeans is to throw on a statement belt to pull your entire look together. You could never go wrong with the Gucci logo belt because it just adds that final touch to every look. However, I also love the idea of chain belts or re-purposing a designer scarf into a sash.

10. Faux Fur

As we head into the fall season, this is the time to update your outerwear. One of the easiest ways to dress up denim is with faux fur pieces whether that’s a coat or a scarf. It’s such a fun statement piece and the added warmth is just perfect for Minnesota’s brutal winters.
