Transitional Denim Outfits You Can Wear From Winter To Spring

It’s probably obvious that I’m over my heavy winter layers since I’ve been talking so much about spring fashion. The one thing I wear on repeat during this time of the year is denim, so I wanted to share some of my go-to transitional denim outfits. Luckily, you probably already own most of the pieces needed to recreate these looks. And if not, I always recommend investing in neutral basics because it makes dressing for in-between seasons so much easier. Plus, you can always add in a bright-colored handbag or pair of heels for that extra pop. Keep scrolling for my favorite denim looks right now.
Lovers + Friends White Trench (sold out, similar here) | Monrow Black Tee (wearing an XS) | Asos Black Denim (run TTS) | Janessa Leone Fedora (similar here) | Chloe Faye Bag | Schutz Heels
Duster Trench, Denim & Strappy Heels
You guys know that my favorite transitional outfits involve a statement jacket. I love how a flowy, lightweight trench keeps me covered during the crisp mornings, but when afternoon temperatures are at their peak, it’s what I’m wearing underneath that matters most. You’ll typically find me in a long-sleeve tee and jeans combo.
Mango White Coat (wearing an S) | Frame Brown Coated Denim (wearing a 23) | Christian Louboutin White Heels (better for budget here and here) | Tom Ford Aviator Sunglasses (better for budget here) | Louis Vuitton Multi Pochette Accessories (available here) | Louis Vuitton Shawl (preowned here)
Wool Coat, Coated Jeans & Scarf
There’s nothing chicer than a wool coat for early spring. You can still invest in a good one now and it’ll last you for years to come. Style it with a pair of coated jeans and layer on an oversized scarf for a cozy but elevated look. By mid-day, you can keep the scarf and lose the jacket.
Topshop Faux Shearling Jacket (wearing an S) | Topshop Cream Denim (wearing a 25 – size up) | Topshop Ivory Top (wearing a US 2) | Louis Vuitton Palm Springs Mini Backpack | Louis Vuitton Combat Boots (run TTS, better for budget here) | Tom Ford Aviator Sunglasses (similar here, better for budget here)
Shearling Jacket & Combat Boots
My style leans dressy most of the time, but I love a cool, laidback look too. Two of my favorite pieces to achieve an effortless, day-time edge are combat boots and a shearling jacket.
White Gucci Belt (wearing a 75 – read my ‘Gucci Belt Sizing Guide’ HERE) | Gucci Logo Tee (wearing an XXS) | Gucci Marmont White Bag (mini size shown) | Balmain Blazer (wearing an FR34) | Christian Louboutin Red Heels (size down 1/2 size)
Blazer, Logo Tee, & Distressed Jeans
I’m all about getting the most mileage out of my wardrobe, which means I’m constantly mixing and matching basics. You can never go wrong with a pair of jeans, graphic tee, and smart blazer when transitioning from one season to the next. Keep the outfit interesting with a pair of colorful shoes or a sleek designer handbag.
Reebok Club C 85 Sneakers (run TTS) | Revolve Bodysuit (wearing an XS, on sale now – under $50!) | BlankNYC Jacket (wearing an XS) | Levi’s Denim (wearing a 23 – size down) | Chloe Faye Bag | Quay Sunglasses (on sale now!)
Moto Jacket, Bodysuit, Sneakers
Bodysuits are a layered outfit’s best friend so they are a real no brainer in terms of an in-between wardrobe essential. Tuck a bodysuit into light colored denim, then add a moto jacket and sneakers for casual chic ensemble! The body-hugging fit of a bodysuit makes it so easy to layer up without the bulk at the start of spring.
Gucci Belt (wearing a size 70 – read my ‘Gucci Belt Sizing Guide’ HERE) | H&M Denim Jacket (wearing XS, similar here and here) | CamiNYC Black Cami (wearing an XS) | Asos Black Denim (wearing a 25 – size up) | Prada Cahier Bag | Givenchy Sunglasses (on sale!)
Oversized Denim Jacket & Lace Cami
Denim on denim is another classic combo that never gets old – and you most likely have all the pieces you need to recreate this outfit. I tend to mix black and blue denim for a subtler take on the look – I like that it’s less intentional. To dress it up, wear stiletto heels and accessories with gold hardware.
